Getting to Heathrow For 6.30am Flight

There is a chapel in Heathrow. Terminal 2 I think.

Also, try searching down this forum, there is another thread where the staff bus & train times were linked-up (for all London airports) & they ran very early.

Might also be worth checking some of the big hotels that cater for aircrew. They often lay-on minibuses to the airports. Kensington Hilton (by Shepherds Bush) was one that I've stayed-in

Yes, if only I could sleep on planes!. I wonder if there's an Interfaith Chapel in Heathrow? They're normally the best places to sleep in airports--always deserted, open 24 hours, and you can stretch out on the nice long pews.

I hate people who can sleep on planes

I manage the odd half hour every few hours if I'm lucky.

Bet if I flew business or first class I'd sleep though. When I win the lottery...

except I never do it, but b/f's promised me all his winnings when he wins ;)

There is a chapel at Heathrow, by the old control tower.

But if you're on KLM that's T4 so you're miles away.

However KLM's minimum check in time is 45 minutes, so the Heathrow Express. :p

That would really be pushing it, especially for long-haul.

Two years ago, or was it three, (the year I got stranded in Singapore airport) the queues were horrendous after implementing the new no liquids rule. We arrived 3 hours beforehand and just had time for one ciggie. Were nearly the last people on the flight.

I personally would no way risk leaving an hour

I agree, I once got to check in an hour before (nb this was BEFORE the new wanky rules), the queue was big, someone in front took ages and they closed the flight 40 mins before!

Heathrow is waay too big an airport to cut things fine.

Check in on line, print boarding pass at home ------> Fast Bag Drop desk = 5 minutes from entering T4 till you're heading towards secuirty.

Drives me fucking nuts the amount of time people want to leave themselves these days. Was travelling to Munich with a group the other week and they wanted us there 3 hours before departure. For a 2 hour flight! Fuck that, 50 minutes before the off I waltz in and no troubles.

What was Longyearbyen like and why did you go?

I've become really intrigued by this place ever since I read a bunch of articles a few months back on the doomsday seed bank that they're building deep in one of the mountains. I've got a strange desire to actually go and spend some time there.

Really, really interesting. Went to Barentsburg and Pyramiden too. Crazy.

Dunno why I went, just had always wanted to go since I was a kid, randomly found a cheap flight and camped up there.

there is an all night service to heathrow terminals...
285 from kingston, to get to kingston from putney way a 85 runs 24hrs and from streatham/tootin 57 which is 24hrs again.

Would expect a similar service from north london, east london could be a bit of a mission though...

Nightbus from Trafalgar Square isn't much good as I'd have to lug my suitcases all the way to the bus stop.
Well yeah, as you'd have to lug your suitcases all the way to Heathrow Express at Paddy, a tube station, etc. If you don't want to lug, the only option is a cab, init?

Fwiw, the N9 takes an hour from Trafalgar Sq.
