Excellent. I'm sure they'll be thrilled about possibly having to use T5 :D

Wow. That was lucky. I did although as others said on here its not the cheapest way any more.

I reckon that is entirely down to the cost of fuel at $110 a barrel. They probably had it all planned out at perhaps <$90 a barrel thinking it'd never go that high.

Oh well. Air New Zealand do it for 500 or so which I thought was pretty reasonable. Probably due to the US treating their transit passengers so poorly.

That's exactly why they did it.

I flew from LA to London with Air New Zealand's top man in the UK. First class. As we enetered the airport we went through secuirty he was taken off in to a little room for an Attitude Re-adjustment Session :D During the flight he vowed to work on getting rightgs to fly eastwards to NZ and 18 months later the Hong Kong route was born.

They do have a terrible reputation for how they treat passengers. I know they are bad and I've never been.

When you transit LA on the way to NZ you must get off the plane, go through US immigration and customs, though your bags stay on the plane, then go back through immigration to get back on the same plane. It doesn't leave enough time for smokers to have even one fag

Flying via Honkers, you land in HK, go to the smoking room next to the gate, then an hour or so later just wander back onto the plane and fly to NZ. Much better.
