Getting rid of stuff

I'll do some when I get home, it's going to be hard though, I don't do throwing stuff away.

What makes it a lot harder is that we are having a clear out at work, and it's taking a massive effort not to fill my bag with bits of wire and old phones and stuff. :(

:D:D oh dear mate your gonna have to get a shed i can see it now, Derv in his shed tinkering about "getting some peace" you and numbers can start a shed club it will be aces:D

Bloody hard one all this.

I am loathed to ever dump anything but also only have a finite amount of space in our little home. Getting rid of stuff through freecycle or similar is perfect but also takes up a fair amount of time. I really need to have a long weekend and be brutal with my clutter but it just seems to never happen.

DONT YOU DARE!!!!

I'm looking at the boxes for our last 4 phones as it is! not to mention camera's, printers et etc etc

Speaking of boxes . . . why have I got so many :( I don't want to throw them away just in case but they just take up space.

Shells: he really doesn't need a shed!

I'm not convinced I'm afraid. Every man should have a shed imo ;)
Mr snake has his shed and I have the other bit for putting the recycling stuff and some garden tools in so I don't need to go into his bit :D

yes but given the amount of crap I'm wading through one shed would soon turn into this!

Art pads, coloured paper and stuff I'll have if you can't find a good home for it. The daughter is doing A-level Art and that stuff is all very useful to her.:)

Ok I'll see if any of it is serviceable :)

I'm actually quite impressed that I've managed to collect so much! a tv, 2 printers, 3 huge bin bags, masses and masses of card/paper for recycling. But better than that I've managed to pack things better so there's more available space! I even hoovered under the bed :D

nearly ready to fill it all up with new stuff

Perhaps its just my neighborhood, but I put stuff out on the front lawn and it disappears. Last week I put out an old chair and it was gone in less than 30 minutes. I figure that someone must have a use for it so they're welcome to it.

I have recently moved from a 4 bed house into a caravan ( don't laugh! :D) so had to have a good clear out, thankfully the buyers of my house wanted most of the furniture too but i had alot to get rid of, books, clothes, shoes ( almost 50 pairs) lamps, kitchen equipment etc, i'm not a hoarder but i was surprised by how much i had to clear out, i donated most to charity and friends took alot of it, one took some things to a car boot, isn't that an option you can consider?

as previously discussed I can't do this although I know it works.

not really because a) no car therefore no boot :) and b) no inclination to make money, I just wants it gone.

I think its getting to a stage where I can fill a car and head to the recycling place. Once dervish does his stuff.

Congrats on proper downsizing btw!

It's not permanent, i need space! :D
Good luck with the clear out, do you have any plans for the new space?

yes I should imagine that with the next 6 months it will be completely full of pointless bits of brightly coloured plastic that makes irritating noises and soft toys.

haha I'm not making that much space!!

and I've just asked for my first thing on freecycle  I haven't even got the junk out of my house yet :o

Most schools will take clothes and shoes - in Camden the primaries have links with LMB - wearable stuff is washed and sent to Africa and distributed to small stallholders to sell (this year, women caring for children are getting the lions share) the rest of the stuff is pulped and sold for insulation and industrial cloth. The trainers are recycled to make rubber surfacing for use in children's playgrounds! And the schools get a few quid too.

I didn't realise you could get return tickets with the stork.

Oh, you meant gem...
