Tell me about it .

I had a car which flattened it's battery and I didn't get back to it for 3 weeks (was on holiday). When I returned nothing worked.

I have to take the battery out of one of my motorcycles from time to time to get at various bits that need checking. Luckily it has an auxiliarly elecrical socket I can connect a battery to keep the electrical systems live when I remove the battery from the bike.
I can reset the computers but it is not a job I relish.

DJ Bombscare seems to be a lot more open minded and knowledgeable about bikes than certain people I can think of that have posted on these boards.

So might I suggest that although I am sure that posters are greatful of your offering of assistance. The fact that your facts are based on pure speculation, hear-say, and utter bollox in any place other than Tobyjugland

Would mean that they would probably like assistance from people who actually know what the fuck they are talking about.

People like Zed who have the ability to look at ALL the FACTS and then give assistance from there.


Anyway Amanita Virosa its a fungus isn't it, something to do with The destroying angel if I remember correctly.

I'm not quite sure how I ended up getting the blame for all this, but after tobyjug (aka Amanita Virosa) posted up my home address on another board, accompanied by death threats and a claim that he was "on his way up to sort it out", he's on a lifelong ban from here.

His personal details (of which there are many) have been fully logged for possible further action, natch.

I have a VXR 200 scooter that has been laid up for months. One new battery, a squirt of wd40 down the bore, clean the plug, new fuel and it runs like a scooter should.

...and a dash of cynicism: I was given a bike that has been off the road for 10 years (I've already said about this on another thread).

So far fixing parts up and such like, I've not had to spend more than £60 (total) in parts following the attitude of zed66: "if it ain't broke don't fix it". The battery still held charge even after all those years, even the expiry was in 2001. Granted it didn't hold enough charge but it held some, and that gave me enough confidence to work more on the bike.

The carbs and hoses were too all shot, blocked and filled with rusty petrol sediment. Fixed at no extra cost.

Moral of story, try and try again - and if in doubt (ask on the forum ). I mean, buy the replacement (if you see it worth it).

Being cheap isn't something to be ashamed of. It is pure economics.
