Gestapo uniform

I ask them why they're wearing, for example, an SS uniform. Depending on their response, depends where it goes after that.

Similarly with an NKVD uniform.

Right, like 'confront'. I know nothing about this fetish lark, do you kind of escort them to where they want to be, depending on their reply or summat?

but that's just the era and everyone happened to be wearing those styles of clothes init

I love 40s clothes but I'm definitely not a Nazi

I might also enjoy dressing up as a Nazi for a film or a play but wouldn't walk down the street wearing any kind of Nazi uniform or clothing

There are till concentration camp survivors living in London and it just seems incredibly insensitive to even think of it because of how upsetting it wuld be for them to see someone wearing such clothing

IMO

I saw a very beautiful young woman at a burlesque night recently
She was wearing her hair (blonde) up in plaits with a military hat like the one the woman is wearing in the picture above, a very germanic looking 'wench' type blouse and very short lederhosen. She looked like an extra from Madam Kitty's

On the one hand she was stunning, on the other she looked like a comic book Nazi. I couldn't help but wonder if she was into far right political stuff, as I've recently learned that a sizable minority of people who are passionate about vintage clothing from the 40s are into neo nazi stuff.

I'm still working out how I feel about it. TBH

Doesn't mean they're in favour of it though. I happen to think a lot of the uniforms from WW2 are stunning - doesn't mean I like what they did. It's historically interesting.

I'm sticking my neck out a bit here, but I'd also be interested in collecting some Nazi memorabilia.. not because I want to put it on my wall or anything, but again - I find it interesting, historically. I guess the difficulty would come in WHO I might be getting it from..

Do you think that people shouldn't be wearing clothes from the army surplus aswell? There are a lot of asylum seekers in london who've been into contact with the british and american army too... fairly recently too I'd expect...

All I know is the nazi's stole our bikes and we harboured jews, I didn't ever do history lessons because I don't care for it much. I aint talking about a poxy war or what happened in it, I'm talking about a fucking jacket. jesus....

**shrugs**

I've had one 'argument' on here this week with someone I like. That's unusal for me. I don't really want another row. But I am surprised at your response.

To you, it's 'just' a jacket and 'you don't care'. That's okay. Be careful you don't meet an anti-Nazi or Jew in the street who recognises what you're wearing and takes it off you.

@cesare - No. I'm talking about why someone is sexualising a symbol of hate in a public/private party space. Take it off or I'll take it off for you. That kind of thing.

Well, only the nazis were wearing gestapo uniforms

Do I have to type in capitals with extra large spaces so that you can understand my comment?

Look at all the military uniforms, they are basically the same, I just happen to think that the nazi's had style.

I don't think that's dodgy, Mr S has quite a few bits and he's about as far the other wat as you can go. Just bear in mind that if you buy repo stuff there's a chance be produced/sold by someone dubious, you can get original stuff from military collectors sites.

I should have clarified. I don't mean that they're into collecting Nazi memorabilia (although they might be) I mean that they are real neo nazis / fash.

I hear you. If I found a piece of Nazi memorabilia in a charity shop I'd buy it immediately. I've collected a massive amount of racist memorabilia and books over the last few years. They are all being used to educate people about racism and history. If I found a rare medal or something similar, then I'd still buy it and I dunno, either sell it to or donate it to a museum. I would never sell to a Nazi / fash though. Obviously

I doubt that many people will see that wrap around jacket and think OMG NAZI!!!! it looks like something out of topshop ffs

I've already stated I'm not gonna cover meself in swazzies so I don't see your problem tbh.

And if somone in the street were to grab me and take it off me I'd do them for robbery and assault.

You need to do what you need to do. It's your conscience.

I appreciate you responding to my posts on your thread. We won't agree. I've given my tuppence worth. You responded. Thanks. :)

No platform. No excuses. Ever.

it's cool, now I know I'm gonna be assaulted and robbed in the street I'll have to see about getting some mace.

I think you are being a bit unfair on tp actually.

She may have gone about it the wrong way and worded the title badly but she has since explained that it is the 'style' of jacket that she is looking for, not one covered in swastikas and stuff. :)

Military stuff is super cool, I have a old 60's West German police jacket that is lush. Wouldn't wear nazi stuff, but don't think people would recognize it without the badges etc

There is a woman called Jed Phoenix that sells something similar to what you were admiring.. hold on, I'll see whether I can find it.

Just so you know if you get one TP, it's not just the swastika that you wanna ditch, you might wanna lose the eagle and the skull and crossbones too

Yeah, not interested in repo stuff.

Should look into it a bit more. Went thru a stage of buying medals and books and stuff, then it kinda drifted away.

I've always felt that appropriating the uniform of a despicable group for purposes utterly against that which they would have approved of - and clearly behaving in a completely opposed manner - is an effective way of defusing whatever message might remain. Killing iconography is a step towards killing an ideology.

On the other hand there are still people to whom those insignia mean death squads or being kicked on the street by cunts wearing the symbols. And that's not what you would ever want to associate yourself with, unless you were some sort of "edgy" cunt.

So, er. Hmm.

I think as long as you removed ALL the insignia (and maybe changed it somewhat with your own patches/badges) no-one'd know what it was or if they did think you were doing the former.

I've got an ace Nazi coat. It's not proper Nazi cos it was made in Berlin in 1952, and I guess it is just a Luftwaffe greatcoat, but it's the warmest thing ever & it's brilliant

Isn't TP kinda of allowed to wear a Nazi uniform with her being disabled, in the same way black people can use the N word

wouldn't they have put her in a oven
