Gervais/Merchant...Extras Debuts Tonight at 9 on BBC2

It's still merely OK. I don't really laugh uproariously at many things although i find a lot of things very funny. This however didn't exercise my mirth glands very much. It still seems to me Gervais trading on his own public image, something Larry David does to utter perfection in CYE. The female lead who's name I forget is a lot better than Andy but they seem to limit her bits for more of him. I just feel a lot of people are looking at through Gervais&Merchant-tinted glasses.

I didnt really like the first episode much, wasnt really much more than we've seen from the office, but i liked the last one a lot more, the way andy tried to cheer up ross by telling him bout his uniform was hilarious, or so i thought! Though i doubt this will hit off in america like they're hoping, theres to many references to british stuff that theys wont get, not that i care.

CYE is light years better than The Office ever was. CYE actually seems quite British to me, with the central character trapped in a situation they are not suited to (see Father Ted, Blackadder, Basil Fawlty, Alan Partridge). The Office wasn't as original as it's been portrayed; I seem to remember a series of mock fly-on-the-walls from a few years ago on BBC2, although it's name escapes me now.

Operation Good Guys,very under-rated imho.

The general not very goodness when compared to other stuff. Not that good of an argument i know, and some things are worth second chances...i could be wrong...i think things that are missed the first time aroind but which have quality often build up a groundswell of critcial support over the next year or so, but i've never heard anyone other than you even mentioning it. As said above, i might be well wrong though - i did not like what i saw of it.

thats kind of what i meant, sorry

most people haven't heard of it but it was fairly good parody of the doccusoap format, although the awkwardness towards camera did at times come over as very wooden which might have been off-putting to some.

good but more in a endsleigh league way to the Offices championship though.

i liked operation good guys, got the first series on video. no where near as good as the office but still pretty enjoyable imo.

Once again it was alright. It just seems a shame that this is publicised to the hilt when the vastly superior The Thick Of It was relegated to only BBC3 with no promotion. Armando Iannucci shits all over Gervais.

I thought it was brilliant. I didn't watch The Office much so maybe I'm not jaded by overkill.

Great in parts but a bit patchy. The Scottish character is obviously just a female version of the Gervais character.

Les Dennis did well... (I would never have believed I would say that!)

Last night's ep was some of the darkest, bleakest comedy I've ever seen, and respect to Dennis for doing it - whether he's treating is as some kind of therapy or not, he's got some balls.

And WTF was going on with that fathe/daughter thing? WRONG-GER!! Esp. the Bucks Fizz cover...

Not as laugh out loud funny as The Office but very very good.
