Gerrard saga today 05/07/05

:D Yeah good one! What you need is a goal scorer...there's more than enough journeyman spaniards to fill the midfield :p

f**k, he's a really good player.

But in a way it could be good, £30+ million to build up the squad and we might even be better off without his ego running around and the constant speculation, if he wants to leave because 100,000 grand a week isn't enough then   see ya.

Are there taps on the phones or something? Who the hell is leaking all this information at such a rate?

the player had alledgely agreed to alledgedly join chelsea 2 weeks ago.

terms were alledgedly agreed

now the club has to put in an offer, the player has to blame his soon to be ex-club for not trying hard enough to keep him

the soon to be ex-club have to tell fans that they tried their best

the agents have to step in and look like the bad guy to protect the player who had already alledgedly ditched his club for more money weeks ago.

but once the offer comes in from the club as it did this morning then it all has to happen quickly

thats how i understand it anyway

But how are Chelsea going to play Lampard, Gerrard, Makele, Duff and Robben in the same team?

3 at the back and Claude ahead of them? Lampard behind 2 strikers?

That's my feeling too...moving to Spain would also mean not having to return to Anfield anytime soon.

Would if Barca could stump up the cash....Gerrard, Deco and Ronny *dribble*..actually probably not...we need a defender.

And Shaun Wright Phillips!!!

One striker, five in midfield (Gerrard, Lampard, Makelele and any two from Robben/J Cole/Duff/SWP down the wings). Gudjohnsen could be the one who misses out as he isn't an out and out striker.

Hmm, interesting but why have Chelsea continued chasing Essien then?

And where's Joe Cole?

cause its not guaranteed that they will get him as i understand it.

club says to player 'here we'll give you a load more cash if you stop badge kissin for yer so called boyhood heros ye mercenary hoor'

player thinks about this for about 2 seconds and says 'of course'

then the behind the scenes goes into overdrive, now the club has its word but little else, they know that while the player is buyable someone else can come in... so continue to chase essian

also there is the small fact that the selling club may be severly fucked off with chelsea and accept a 33 million bid from madrid but reject a 34 from chelsea.... at very least they will encourage a bidding war..... altho there is also the possibilty that real and chelsea already have this covered? on that i don't know

I would take £30m + Huth / £25m + Gallas or Gudjohnsen from Chelsea or
£20m + Owen or Raul / £30 + Woodgate on loan from Madrid

Or a cool £35m from either.

The bastard of it is that we have to register our CL squad by tomorrow so I don't know how it will work regarding new signings after tomorrow being eligible.

I wouldn't touch Woodgate and his dodgy thigh...£25m + Raul would be a good deal, esp the way he used to work with Morientes.

I guess if LFC have to get the team to UEFA tomorrw, they will have to leave Gerrard out of their CL squad because if he plays he's cup tied and I doubt Real or Chelsea want that.

Gudjohnsen worth 7 or 8 mil?. Are you serious?. Plus he's a cheating twat.

£35 mil minimum, Chelsea won't let any of their decent players go either so forget that.

Yup, I reckon Liverpool will go back to Chelsea and say bump it to 35m and you can have him. Can't see Chelsea doing swopsies..

I wouldn't want any cunt who's played for that horrible cunt team.

Not arse he's going, we've lost more important players than him in the past. Figo is set to sign this week and there is talk of Ballack & SWP. Add that to Alonso, Garcia, Zenden & Gonzalez (when fit) and that's a superstar midfield squad.

What will be, will be - but this isn't the end of the world by a long stretch.

Word. Total faith in Rafa, who, lest we forget, is the man who won us the European Cup. Not Gerrard.

Bye Steven. Cheers for the memories. Shame you felt the need to leave the way you did, it's kinda tarnished everything.

Harsh - possibly true, but we'll never know. What is the truth, is the fact that they both have cunts for agents. They're the root of all evil in this.

I reckon thats the problem.

He sees other teams breaking the bank to get the very, very best & at Anfield Zenden turns up & Gerrard thinks fuck this, i'm off to a club that really has the same ambitions as me rather than talking about it.

Not saying the other players you mentioned aint great, Gonzalez excepted (cos I don't know about him) but Zenden is an average premiership midfielder Liverpool have got on the cheap. Fair do's but I think Gerrard was thinking winning the European Cup might see a few superstar arrivals not another twat with a silly haircut.

Will be surprised if he goes to Chelsea. I can't actually begin to imagine being in his position and contemplating playing for a team like that, and at some point having to face the team he supported as a kid, won the European Cup with, and the thousands of fans who chanted his name at every match.

Rooney's Everton exit can be excused as youthful folly and the promise of riches. Stevie on the other hand should know better.

Hopefully this will serve to emphasise that teams are bigger than one player. We lost Owen - won the European Cup. Everton lose Rooney - have the best season in donkeys years. We lose Gerrard - who knows!

Close the door on your way out, la.

exactamondo
Shanks'll be spinning in his grave. Fucking superstars

Don't care where he goes, so long as we get top dollar for him. Then we can get Ballack, who in my opinion is a better player, and Aimar.

I wonder if the shit will be kissing the Chelsea/Real badge when he scores for them???
