Gerrard or Scholes?

Scholes. It was shame he was messed about for England to accomodate Gerrard and Lampard. He's the closest England have had to a continental-type player who can stop and look around midfield a play the killer pass. Gerrard does tend to run around like a headless chicken sometimes.

You may think scholes is good, but you also think Gerrard is complete shit(according to your previous post). That just screams biasedness to me.

I said Gerard is an overrated workhorse I never said he was complete shit, though his passing, technique, vision and positional play are complete one dimensional shit when compared to a player of Schole's class.

Also I never editted anything.

scholes has done it at international level gerrard never done fuck all 4 england, scholes looks class in a class team whereas gerrard looks good in a shit team big fish small ponds spring 2 mind

What did Scholes do at international level that Gerrard hasn't? England get to the odd semi final and have won bugger all since 1966. What has either achieved internationally? The only stat you can look at objectively is goals probably:

Scholes - 14 in 66 apparances - Retired

Gerrard - 13 in 67 appearances - About 5 years left for England?

The ironic thing with this comparison is that Scholes started his playing career as a striker. He and Fowler were a prolific strike partnership for England at Under 21 level as I recall. He transformed into an excellent attacking, then holding midfielder. Gerrard's role is a lot harder to define these days but historically he is a central midfielder. He played the last 20 or so games of last season for Liverpool just behind Torres - in effect a second striker.

So they are both versatile. Scholes is either a crap tackler or a dirty cunt. Gerrard has lost the nasty tackle side of his game. Both can ping the ball about nicely and have a grat long range shot. I would rather Gerrard in my team but Scholes has been a great player over the years.

The point made above that Scholes has played in a quality team for most of his career whilst Gerrard hasn't is a good one.

Just the way it sounded to me.

LOLZ , saying both can ping a ball about nicely is like saying an escort and porsche both drive on the road. Scholes passing is fucking light years ahead of Gerrards.

Disagree. Guess we are both biased. The bottom line is that Gerrard is now at his peak whereas Scholes' career is coming to an end. A true comparrison can be made in 5 years when Gerrard will be the age that Scholes is now.

He didn't get forward much for Utd last season did he? How would you describe the position he has played for the last couple of seasons?

he doesn't play holding midfield but he has played in a deeper lying role for the past two seasons, I'd say he just plays in centre midfield which looks relatively defensive only by comparison to his previous positioning.

anyway why is everyone still banging on about Gerard, he got owned by Bradley from SClub last season.
