I could quite legitamately get away with murdering you due to being temporarily insane due to the pain caused by the noise.

Query "temporarily".

I realise it appears to be impossible for you to understand but I am not joking when I state opera causes me pain. It is so painful for me I HAVE to get away from it or stop the noise.

I hate opera especially female opera singers who sound as if they are being tortured with a combination of heated irons and high voltage electricity.

This is a comment commonly made by people who have never heard opera.

Bo-oring.

that's not me saying tj hasn't, btw, just an observation

Do we know exactly where Toby lives? I ask because I'm in Paignton all next week and I could feasibly pop over to Cornwall with some Wagner CDs and something loud to play them on.

German-language opera does not exclusively consist of Wagner, as a Mr Mozart of Salzburg and Vienna would have pointed out.

A lot of Mozart's stuff was done in the Italian style, though...

I went for Italian, but the truth is I don't really mind.

I prefer it sung in it's original language, and not translated into English, though.
Opera in English is *weird* (except, maybe, for G&S, and that's apparently operetta...)
