George Osborne & general spin rant

I watched Osborne's speech and I thought that as a piece of politics, it was very effective indeed; it will win votes. It was also a speech that no Tory chancellor or shadow chancellor would have made in the 1980s or 1990s.

Thats true - and there is definitely an element of gamble about it. But I think it will pay off, as if Labour continue not to talk about concrete cuts they'll look dodgey (or so the thinking goes), and if they do, then it's their cuts that will be ringing in the voters ears, whilst the drop-in-the-ocean stuff Osbourne put out will seem the softer of the two options...

...that said, I would like to look through all the Benefit Cuts Theresa May announced - only caught it in passing and it sounded pretty scary. Beating up on people on benefits seems to be a blood sport for the torys. If anyone has a handy summary please post it! Ta

the sadistic cunts will probably start hanging round job centres to watch the friction...

I find myself warming to him, not so much for the proposals he has put forward but the fact he has outlined what he intends to do rather than some vague nonesense.

I've said it before today but...If someone put make-up on a rotting corpse, would you fuck it?

Your OP says yes.
