George Galloway Debate

belboid said:
they used half the same evidence!

KBJ seems to be saying that as GG is a shit, it doesn't matter if he gets railroaded tho, even if it is by a bunch of even bigger hypocrites & criminals

Aye, that's the feeling that I get. :(

Yeah, I agree; Galloway really is a cnut of the first order imo but this stinks.

Its been open season on him for ages now, anyone remember Paxmans disgraceful 'interview' with Galloway on election night?

I remember the Paxman interview, not one of his finer moments.

Paxman is a fuck wit though and that interview showed it.

What's so sad and sickening is that with the current level of class struggle those bastards in parliament can get away with almost anything.

Remind me, why am I supposed to give a fuck about this corpulant, careerist twat? Fuck him.

I think you're kinda missing the point. It's the establishment fitting someone up because they seem him as being too left and too much of a thorn in their side. Lets face it, whatever you think of him, what other MP asks questions from an anti-imperialist point of view?

An elected MP who is excluded from parliament was quite possibly being framed and you ask 'why am I supposed to give a fuck' ! :(

LOL at the idea of Galloway being 'too left'.

Still at least he can spend more time with what he loves most - himself.

He's. An. MP.

I just don't give a fuck what happens to him unless it involves an angry mob and a noose, to be quite frank.

No, I'm not, I just disagree.

I don't give a toss how "left" he is. He's still just another fucking politician. Scum to a man. Even beyond that, the divisive, communitarian shit he stands for is hardly a set of ideas I'm wanting to defend.

Thats exactly why you are missing the point.

The point is, it's not about defending Galloway, it's about the fact that the establishment is fitting someone up because, in their eyes, he is too left wing.

It's like saying that because I disagree with islamic fundamentalism then I'm not gonna care about some bloke getting six years for holding up a placard.

In Bloom said:
Go on then, enlighten me, oh wise one. Why should I care what happens to George fucking Galloway?

TAE has already answered you post 36.

We all hate alloway, but theres something much more important than him going on.

Bit of a vague turn of phrase there, but I'd nominate Jeremy Corbyn, John McDonnell, Neil Gerrard and a few others.

They might make anti-war points, but they clearly don't make as starkly anti-imperialist speeches as Galloway. Can't remember any of them saying that they support the right of insurgents to resist US/UK troops for instance.

Chris Hitchens's reaction

"I do not think that an 18-day suspension from the House of Commons is anything like enough punishment for what Galloway has done, first on behalf of a sadistic and genocidal megalomaniac and second to steal food and medicine from the mouths of desperate Iraqis."
"Just look at the gang that strove to prevent the United Nations from enforcing its library of resolutions on Saddam Hussein. Where are they now? Gerhard Schroeder, ex-chancellor of Germany, has gone straight to work for a Russian oil-and-gas consortium. Vladimir Putin, master of such consortia and their manipulation, is undisguised in his thirst to re-establish a one-party state. Jacques Chirac, who only avoided prosecution for corruption by getting himself immunized by re-election (and who had Saddam's sons as his personal guests while in office, and built Saddam Hussein a nuclear reactor while knowing what he wanted it for), is now undergoing some unpleasant interviews with the Paris police. So is his cynical understudy Dominique de Villepin, once the glamour-boy of the "European" school of diplomacy without force. What a crew! Galloway is the most sordid of this group because he managed to be a pimp for, as well as a prostitute of, one of the foulest dictatorships of modern times. But the taint of collusion and corruption extends much further than his pathetic figure, and one day, slowly but surely, we shall find out the whole disgusting thing."

But there are people in the house of commons who are far far more traditionally left wing than Galloway, Dennis Skinner for instance but Skinner isn't self serving divisive scum like Galloway. Galloways little 'project' has probably done a lot to increase islamophbia than almost any other political party by making it respectable (scuse pun) to have poltics based on race and religion because of the backlash that has ensued. For example the comments I heard about Respect when I was living in Dagenham were on the lines of 'well the muslims have got their party' (meaning respect) 'why can't we have ours?'

Wish Galloway would piss off to his Spanish villa and leave British poltics.

can i take a middle ground on this one. on the one hand i see galloway as acareerist self-serving twat etc., on the other i watch as a bunch of other careerist self-serving twats stitch him up because he asks difficult questions and can't be cowed to the whip and the paymaster.

but i wouldn't have expected anything different. the establishment will protect its own through lies and smears and sanctions, through violence and shutdowns. it will do what it takes, to ensure that it, and the paymasters, capitalists, landlords, moguls and all that kibble, are not threatened.

if i was a believer in teh sanctity and morality of parliament i'd be shocked and disillusioned. but i'm not, so i'm not.

Thats seriously unfair to pimps and prostitutes in my opinion.

I'm afraid that just about sums up modern society UK 2007 mate!

Too many walk through life in a daze of ringtones and tesco 'buy 1 get 1 free" rattling through their sieve-like minds.
God help us all if that is the total sum of political enquiry in the UK!:(

Once again you're missing the point. The point is that a left figure is being fitted up by the establishment because he's anti-war and seen as left wing. What Galloway is actually like is almost irrelevant.

Skinner has also stayed within the sanctity of the Labour Party.

Chris Hitchens's reaction

And that slimey, slobbering, pro-war shit can crawl back under the rock he came from. How he can say this while supporting Bush and Blair shows what a hyprocritical vile piece of slime he is. He really makes my skin crawl, a total creep. He reminds me of the office sneak or slimely bloke with no social skills who makes women's skin crawl.

He is bitter that Galloway has raked him over the coals so often and also of Galloway's perceived charisma and "gorgeous george" label while he sits like a slug or Golum like character who most people (even of the same political persuasion) have nothing but contempt for.

Up to a point I agree its a situation where a turd is attacking another turd.
