Gentlemen, where do you buy your clothes?

CAn't be bothered starting a new thread and it may have been said before - but Burtons! What a revelation! For tall folks, their 'long' length jeans /trousers is easily longer than anywhere elses, totally brilliant and by no means all of their styles totally minging either...

Normally I would chuckle derisively to myself, but you know what? I went into the home store yesterday and it was actually alright.

they sell some decent jeans for blokes - decent denim, decent cuts, damned cheap. And the odd nice checked shirt. Good boxers too

they do great Mechanics Jackets

Another vote for Carhartt here. I've had about 30 items from them over the last 18 years or so and not a dud among them. Well, apart from the buttons of one shirt all coming off within a week, but I sewed them back on and am still wearing it 10 years on. The jeans win every time, for price and quality.

Used to like Schott too, but their quality went right down ime.

Some H&M for basics, secondhand stuff.

Debenhams too.

it's instructive to compare Bench with Carhartt - similar market, similar prices, Bench stuff is always really shoddy, badly finished, cheap looking. Carhartt is just really really good quality stuff

bench is absolutely awful, i used to work for them and have a wardrobe full of the fucking stuff, all falling apart.

I've got a Bench T that's ok, nice and thick; did buy a zip-up woolly a couple of years back and, you're right, very shoddy. Started bobbling in a week, looks shit now. I'd do the gardening in it, if I had a garden.

I quite like Addict stuff too, had some nice things from them that have stood up.

Magic Sam buys his jeans from Next and I think they're really nice. They have all lasted a lot longer than River Island/FCUK and other brands that he's bought in TKMaxx. He won't pay anymore that Next prices even if we had the money. He also gets some nice shirts in there too.

I don't know why everyone slags it off so much.

I think Next gets lumped in with a lot of inferior stores, but for that kind of "reliable and decent without a label" stuff it's pretty good

don't go to any big stores, unless it's one with lots of different designers. tend to go to covent garden usually, though i went to westfield recently and they have loads of choice. made the mistake of buying a t-shirt in next though.

I love these threads. Make me feel so fucking dapper ;)

Basics: M&S for pants & socks, Banana Republic for t-shirts, Uniqlo/Gap for jumpers, hoodies.

Shirts: Urban Outfitters for casual, wherever on Jermyn Street is having a sale for smart/work (Charles Tyrwhitt, Thomas Pink for preference)

Jeans: Carharrt or G-Star. Well made.

Shoes: Size? for trainers, Schuh for shoes.

Having said all that, I almost shop by default - there are many more places that I don't shop - H&M, Primark because they're tacky disposable shit, TKMaxx because I've genuinely never found one thing I wanted to buy and shopping there is like root canal work, French Connection and Zara are overpriced for what they are, Levis are terrible quality these days, and anywhere with big tacky brand names emblazoned on them might as well piss off...

Oh, other good places are Nigel Hall - not cheap, but stylish, understated and interesting, and Libertys for ideas. Designer outlets like Bicester are also good for big purchases.
