Gentlemen: do you wear a tie to work?

Used to be every day, but now since my job change I more often wear jeans and a polo shirt to the offi, which is a lot more comfortable.

Nope, I've worn a tie about half a dozen times since leaving school twenty years ago.

I'm still mentally scarred by our school ties.

They were made of brethyn, a traditional coarse Welsh cloth similar to sackcloth, but with none of the smoothness or comfort or associations with luxury.

You could tie a brethyn tie, certainly, but untying them wasn't so easy. Especially when another pupil has pulled it really tight around your neck
