This sounds too good to be true, so I am interested in what the hive mind of urban techies think.

Gener8 was featured on last night's Dragons' Den, and I've got to say the presentation was probably the best I've ever seen, so good that I had to watch it again. It impressed the dragons so much that he got four offers at the percentage he offered, and the only one that dropped out was not because she wasn't interested, but as a non-techie didn't feel she was the right dragon.

The Gener8 Ad Browser offers you two choices -

1 - Privacy mode, which blocks all cookies & tracking.
2 - Earning mode, paying you 80% of ad revenue generated if you share your data, leaving the company with 20% commission.

Their current users are earning between £5 & £25 per month, although he thought £5 - £10 was more realistic for most people. You earn points that can be converted to buy products, vouchers or donate to charity, he claims that Gener8 has started a movement that empowers people. Not sure about that, but it certainly seems like a potential disruptor to current online advertising models.

I, like many, use a decent adblocker & therefore don't tend to see ads, but I am thinking of giving this a go in 'privacy mode', and if it doesn't serve up too many ads, I could be tempted to put up with them & earn some beer tokens.

So, what do you think?

You can watch the presentation on Dragons' Den from 44.42 on the iplayer -
