Geert Wilders banned from entering the UK

No ones placing him on pedastal jeff, they're pointing to his banning as another in a long line of infringements of our collective rights. That normally clued up people like you support it shows just how far they've suceeded in developing a consensus about how things should be done.

Purplex> All of your posts and waffle above are just a distraction really. It does not matter whether you think he should be banned, hate his crappy video etc. What DOES matter is that in a progressive society all views should be allowed to be aired, without fear of banning, restriction of movement, imprisonment, torture or any other nasty act.
When said persons free speech goes from discussing/presenting an idea to organising murder gangs, encouraging people to go blow themselves up and funding acts of violence, then we have stepped beyond speech and into the realm of action.

Wilders has not as far as any of us are aware funded a terrroist outfit, bombed anybody, encouraged his companions to go around murdering anyone or partaken in violence against the Muslim community.

By all means protest his video, debate him, ignore him and criticism him, but do not support banning him.

I support banning him, Id rather not have his rampant hatred in my country. Sorry if I dont care for this mythical idea of freedom of speech as much as you, but then Im a catholic (lapsed), and we havent had full freedom in this country for hundreds of years.

And my mother and her family are Catholic, and I do support this "mythical freedom of speech".
I find it funny though that since you feel a victim, you wish the state to victimise others. Because that is what is happening, ignore Gert, he's obviously a nasty cunt, look at the bigger picture though.

The fight for the right to worship has cost millions of lives over the centuries, we either say no to that or we continue slaughtering each other.

First they came for the fascists?
Butchers has given you the example of Paul Robeson's passport ban. That's what this is about. If the government get away with this, then what will they argue is "detrimental to the interests of peace and security" next?

Communists? Trade unionists? Singing miners?

I'm amazed at the people handing their liberties away to the government because they don't like this guy. You think I like him? Do I fuck, but it's not the state's business. If you don't get that, you may as well put out your arm for the tattoo now.

If you haven't seen the film how can you seek to offer an informed opinion?
Because I'm adressing its exposure, not its content. A rant about Islam produced by a Dutch MP most people have never heard of, and shown in the House of Lords with near-zero publicity, isn't going to attract to many people.
