Gazza named as Kettering boss

Sad stuff in my view. Gazza was the first player who really lit up my world and his ability was sublime - yes, he's done some awful stuff, but I think a lot of people would like to see him safe, stable and moderately succesful. The man is I think, an example of the dangers of football - more so in many ways than George Best or maradona. Those two were/are obviously intelligent people, whereas Gazza seems like a little boy a lot of the time. I'd have loved him to find some peace doing this, but the bloke seems tortured by himself and by his post football life.

i agree, he is a little boy lost, still as he approaches 40, i'd like to see him sorted too...

We've just buried a football genius who let the drink get him.

15 years and we'll be burying another one.

Gazza clearly has some serious mental issues - the very best at what they do usually do. Jonny Wilkinson is wierd and I mean like really wierd to talk to, Maradona equally and let's not get started on George Best.

He's the best, everyone tells him he's the best and noone tells him when to stop doing what he's doing. Look at his reaction to getting the sack, the man is incensed and he's raving about it. As people have said, he's walked out on most of his jobs when he hasn't had a decent contract or the attention - he suffers from depression and linked to that alcoholism, alcoholism is a mental disease just like depression. Best had it as does Gazza.

The funny thing is over the last week or two people had been lauding Best as 'why footballers are no longer alcoholic womanisers whose careers are wasted' without a thought to the idea that it happened again, to a supremely gifted player whose career was cut short because of it.

I guess we'll have to wait until he's dead for him to get that attention, a fact that's both shocking and angering

"I'm a multi-millionnaire and I'm angry. I'm Paul Gascoigne and I take charge of this club.

Two years ago I would have given in but not now. I'm a genius and I know what's going on on the football field."

hmm.

could there be any truth in what gazza is saying? that the guy was interfering or whatever?

id like to think maybe its a half truth...but from what iv heard i tend to think of it more as drunk ramblings....hope im wrong

George was an alright guy

Gazza is a tosser and an embarassement to the North East

Gazza has problems, dude. He is a bit of a cock, but it is the drink and his manic depression more than anything. Oh and Jimmy Five Bellies! He doesn't really help.... plying Gazza with more drink.

Might not be long.

Read that he's been arrested outside a hotel in Liverpool now, for assault..

... looks like it's all going pear-shaped big time....
