Gate Gourmet sack 500 Heathrow workers

Fucking wankers, when the choice is between negotiation or bullying they pull on the fucking jackboots. Different scenario - but Swiss Toni is being deducted 80% of his pay for the next 2 months because he wouldn't cross a picket line for 2 days last month. Clearly punitive and illegal and meant to scare off the rest of the workforce from similar action. But management are doing it anyway. Probably with the full support of twats like you layabout. Idiot.

Is it possible that ST might *accidently* make a note of the make, model and reg nos of his bosses cars, and that you might *accidently* post them on here, just in case someone was to pass them in the street and *accidently* fall against them boot-first, like?

Ooooh how nice that would be. :D

It most certainly would. However, none of us would dream of doing such a thing, because we are all law-abiding citizens.

Exactly, mate.

However, it's absolutely amazing (or perhaps not if you ever read the drugs forum :p ) how many Urbanites have balance problems that cause them to stagger and fall *accidently*.
All those "baby-eating anarchist" punk-types with studs on their clothes could also *accidently* cause all sorts of damage to paintwork as well.

I've lost count of the times I've *accidently* knocked into things (people, cars, people cycling on the pavement) with my walking stick.

Gosh we're an accident-prone lot here on Urban!

Newsflash: according to the Latest News running across the top of the Guardian site, they've had to suspend checking-in at Heathrow due to sympathy action by other staff. Hurrah!

Fucking result. :)

...

Fair play to them. Looks like that catering firm are going to pay for allowing Gordon Gecko types to "manage" the dispute.

It's amazing how easy it is to get class solidarity on a Friday afternoon when there is a Test Match on TV...

Edit: Why did I think it was Friday? My cynicism is misplaced...

indeed, so Gourmet shopuldn't have been so stupid as to provoke such an action at just such a point then, should they

ooh., i like that mail link, nice one!

a commwent from a sister:

"Heathrow bosses sacked some 500 – 800 mainly Asian workers, they held a meeting and heavies from a security firm locked the doors and kept them locked in. The workers could not even use a toilet; they were there for several hours. Security Guards dragged one Asian Woman workers down the corridor when she tried to use the toilet facilities.

Ground staff walked out in sympathy and all flights are grounded. Obviously there are legal complications, which makes it necessary for all full time Officers to decline to comment on the solidarity action from the staff who have not (yet) been sacked."

What the fuck? The management must be insane.

There is a free phone line, paid for by BA about the disruption, ring from your mobile to cost the more.

"Please note that calls to this number are chargeable from mobiles"

How long's that been in place then?

And trying frommy landline - I'm expecting visitors from the States and have no idea what airline they're on :) - 0800 727 800 is permanently busy,
