Gas guzzling 4x4s and sports cars to pay more for parking

Aye. I think that would be a much easier way to sell the idea to the public if they could see a direct benefit in return.

Part of the problem with anything like this scheme is that it's too easily perceived as a revenue raising exercise. The money Richmond Council raise seems unlikely to be earmarked for improvements to public transport in the borough - that's TfL's remit.

Personally I always thought if you added a tenner to 100 quid, that was 10% extra but do please tell me if you know different. :)
Please reference your quote, or did you just make it up to support your arguement?

That's four years old.

The 2002 report still proves that air quality deteriorated in areas where mixed traffic became bus only and improved on a street where buses are no longer routed.

Did that report make any reference to traffic flow as bus roads only tend to capture all buses in the area and I would have thought resulted in an increase of numbers of people using the road?

Do Emmisions per head go up or down?

Bus frequency has gone up much faster than passenger numbers . Lots more buses with a virtually static user population means more pollution per capita.
