Garth Merenghi's Dark Place

The 'u75's Comedy of the Millennium FINAL' thread reminded me of how great Garth Merenghi really was.

Anyone know if there is going to be another series? Also, I heard that Matthew Holness might be in development with a film script.

If you don't have any news why not post a funny quote from the series... like so:

Dean Learner: "If he gets word of this my arse is grass and he's got a lawnmower if you know what I mean?" :D

I thought it was mint, but there shouldn't be another series. A parody can only last so long.

"I'm Garth Marenghi... author, dreamweaver, visionary. Plus actor."

I loved the opening title sequence.

Also the bit when Garth, as Rick Dagless, storms out of the room, then waits patiently at the door until Dean Learner shouts 'Wait!'

i loved it myself that blokes voice is amazing :D i like spotting that little group of british comedians that seem to be in lots of things at the moment, the cast of the mighty boosh, IT crowd, Nathan Barley, Garth Merenghi, there must be lots more that i dont remember as well.

Garth Marenghi: "As a horror writer I don't ask for much. I just hope I've changed the way you think about life."

Dean Learner: "Garth is the most significant artist that I've worked with and I've worked with Lulu and four other people, so we're talking crème de la crème."

And my favourite Garth quote: "I have never exploded. But I know what it would be like. Don't ask me how. I just know. I've always just known."

:D :D :D :D

Ahhhh, that song...

Why won't she be mine?

I wish I was more attractive like Dagless

Still one can only dream

I'm a one track lover, down a two way lay-eyn

Drivin' fast down the highway, must o' been insa-eyn

Cause the temperatures too highhh, driving way too fast

And I knew our lovin', too hot to la-ast

She's smoth..like ice, she's cold to the touch and it isn't very nice

When your left.. alone, you let them treat you badly, leaves you hanging on the phone

Take off .. shove your loving to the wheel, put the pedle to the floor cause your heading to the hills

Got getta away, can't take it no more, leave her, leave her at the door, the door, the door, the door, Sanch open the door

Fucking Funny

"Music by Stig Baasvik, based on melodies originally whistled by Garth Merenghi"...that always made me laugh. :D

My favourite episode is "Skipper the eye child"

"....and then she got eatten by a hell beast"

Too funny.

PADRE: Your the most sensitive man I know Rick, and I know God.

RICK: I'm not Christ, I know that now.

RICK: Watch out! He's got a stick!

I loved it!

Is anyone watching Snuff Box, then? - Matt Berry's new show.

It's got a very similar feel, despite being totally different. Er, yeah.

It's a fucking tragedy it was cancelled. Boooo channel four! It was about a million times better than the IT Crowd which was embarressing rubbish-yet that will get at least one more series

I've heard that the Darkplace team are developing a new show based around a chat show. Don't know anymore than that.

Snuff Box is the best thing I've seen on BBC3 in ages (kind of a world's-tallest-dwarf" compliment, I know) & is worthy of its own thread IMO.

"Darkplace" was just shite though. Bad sound edits are not that funny, I'm afraid.

Yeah! Except no one would post on it, 'cause I don't think anyone's seen it.

I've really enjoyed Snuff Box.

Final episode tonight though. :(

Whisky!!

God, every episode has so many quotable lines in it.
It's got to be good when halfway through the series I was already gagging for the dvd to come out.

I thought '...Darkplace' was excellent - wonderfully sharp if you spent a good deal of your adolescence and your early twenties being fixated with the worst '80s schlock horror (TV) movie cheese there is (check 'Demon Cop' for the ultimate glorious nadir :D ).

Sadly however, I can't see there being another series. The first was warmly but nonetheless mildly received, and as these things tend to work on annual cycles, I feel a sequel might naturally have appeared a year ago and that a third would now have been in the current question...but the first definitely bears repeated viewing IMO.

They are doing another series, but apparently it's going to be somehow different.

They're also making a second AD/BC Christmas Rock Opera thingy. If anyone's seen the first...?

snuffbox is off the hook!

soooooo random but really funny.
I've watched the first two episodes and imho it is no where near as good as dark place. I laughed once in the first episode. And that American guy is absolutely cack.

It grows on you. After a while you'd do anything to hang out in their wood panelled gentleman's club.

And Rich Fulcher is a flipping genius... 90% of the time.

Snuff Box: "-FUCKNUTS!"

(-I'm beginning to think it's just that I like hearing people shout rude words. :o ;) )
