Maybe but it doesn't have to reflect everyone's hobbies.
Many people are their hobbies, especially gamers. Apart from it being a hobby I am also a political gamer

Also thank you to the people who have posted sincerely so far. Please ignore the rude trolls. I f you cant contribute anything dont post

You're not going to top this one.

i started this thread as a friendly place for discussion and I have just been mocked and ridicule. maybe 'oppression' is too strong but you all are not exactly disproving my point

Ok how are you being oppressed?

Some nasty lady-types thought they'd have a conversation about how greater, more balanced representation would be a great thing in games, considering their power, their potential, the way they are integrated into mainstream culture now. These self-same lady-types had the audacity to talk about some of the games that are pretty bad at representation, or that have pretty nasty portrayals of women that feed into -- just as all pieces of cultural production do -- wider culture, at the same time as feeding off it. These lady-types tried to have an intelligent discussion about it.

Some men are scared these lady-types want to 'take away their toys'. Because, well, they belong only to them, or something. And because lady-types are evil. And should stay in the sammich or something.

i am not part of gamergate i just think SJWs are people who want power over others (authoritarian). most of them arent even real gamers

Given gaming crosses all political afilliations I have to ask what political policies would all gamers actually be united on?

If you don't hold the same political opinions how can you form a united party

pathetic.
shit troll or just plain idiot doesn't really matter as you're crap and I won't waste any more time here.

Taking it at face value, it is somewhat surprising that the gaming industry is so large and yet is still dealt with only very superficially by media and politics. More people play video games than most sports, and yet the latter gets far more attention and serious discussion.

My brother is (or was, not sure anymore :hmm: ) into League of Legends and X-Games (is that what they're called? I feel so old :D) which are both huuuuuuge, but you barely see any coverage of them and that has genuinely surprised me for quite some time.

I don't think it's 'oppression', but it is an odd cultural fact. Obviously this is changing and I've read/listened to some very interesting games coverage, but it still feels like it's on the fringes and I have to seek it out.

In the last week I've racked up 64 hours on Dota 2, and I think you're a massive arse with all the wit and insight of an annoying teenager with a chronic masturbation addiction. Happy to help.

Hi everyone long time lurker first time poster :)

Ive been reading this forum for a while especially after the general election and got to thinking what could be done to make this country better. Especially what the political parties especially the Labour party could do

Then I had a thought: no political party in the UK has any sort of policies that actively address video games, gamers or the oppression that gamers face. For example both from SJW feminists in the mainstream media as well as old people who think that video games make you want to hurt people :facepalm:

I think if the Labour party embraced gamers and had policies for gamers then this country could be improved a lot. For example:

- gamers are often heros in video games, saving people who are in distress and need. who can say this of the current government?? i cant

- games like call of duty teach you to work together for the common good (winning the match) which is quite socialist and goes against the current governent

- video games bring lots of money to the economy and stop the deficit

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I hope im not alone and can find fellow gaming lefties on these forums, maybe we can start up a political group together
Nice try, now fuck off :D

There's a gaming forum here and you have not been ridiculed for being a gamer. You've been ridiculed for expressing ridiculous ideas and the use of the term 'SJW' which pretty much immediately flagged you up as a twat.
