Galloways international speaking circuit

Totally Hatstand
Anybody catch Galloways latest speaking engagement in Damascus?

Linky

I liked this part:

"The reason that Syria is facing this crisis is not because of any bad thing that Syria has done or any weaknesses within its democracy, or within its economy, or within its human rights record - and there are weaknesses in all three of these. The reason why Syria is being threatened is not because of anything bad that she did but because of the good she is doing."

Nice to see that he's taking an interest in Syria's Democratic status and human rights record. Perhaps he was using "weaknesses" as a euphemism for "Non-existent" and "pisspoor" respectively?

No, didn't think so.

Given the events that happened to the last dicatorship that he supported you'd think that they would want nothing to do with him! The phrase that springs to mind is "with friends like these, who needs enemies". ;)

He also met the Speaker of the People's Assembly of Syria on 13 November. See www.champress.net/english entry of 14/11

it absolutely takes the piss. not only is he never in his constituency borough because he's off faffing around the world on his 'speaking tour' but he lives in bleeding Glasgow anyway

Tower Hamlets is one of the worst boroughs in London and is in desperate need of support, investment and has been neglected for years already. Galloway being away so often and for so long is having a massive effect on the borough and there something should be done about it..

how could he possibly be looking after his constituency from the other side of the planet?
