Galloway on the BNP

JoePolitix said:
I agree that there is an inequity in the current education system in that Muslims have far less schools than their Christian counterparts. I also agree with the positions adopted by the SWP and SSP with regards to the question. The abolishion of faith schools ain't likely to happen and therefor to campiagn for the withdrawing of state funding from faith schools can only result in the preserving of that inequality.

However Galloway is explicitly in favour of faith schools. On the "This is London" website he states he is in favour of religious schooling and adds
"Faith schools are full precisely because parents prefer a moral compass in their children's education - and quite right too".

Ofcourse this runs contrary to the standard leftwing principle of secular education but it also supports the segregation of children along racial and religious grounds.

Sorry our posts crossed while we were making similar points ... I didn't deliberately ignore you

BNP are only standing in 7 out of 17 wards in B&D, and are not standing a full slate in any ward there. Let's not get it out of proportion - it will be worrying if they do win any seats, and a wake-up call to New Labour's neglect of working class communities, but the struggle still goes on.

you need to understand there are tactical reasons behind a lot of why they are standing limited numbers of candidates in some areas. in some areas where they have branches- they are not standing at all.

i have a funny feeling this is not remotely the biggest effort they can gather- but rather a decision to stand where they have a chance of winning

Are there any wards where both Respect AND the BNP are standing? That will be the acid-test. How can RESPECT claim to be an alternative to the BNP if they are not directly challenging them.

Fucking spot on comment there. Asfar as I can work out there are no direct Respect / BNP head to heads in my borough.

No, not in your Borough, given that Respect aren't standing there.

But you only have to travel for 23 minutes to find a Respect / BNP head to head (on the District Line of course).

And of course if you popped out of the Metropolis to our Second City, you would find a Respect / BNP head to head in every ward Respect are standing in.
