Galloway on sky news this morning

Groucho said:
I agree but he didn't call her a 'wild eyed nutter' or a 'thicko' or owt he simply attacked her for the lies she was telling in a proffessional capacity.

He said "you are a very silly person".

Personally, I think he done a cracking job. Good on him.

Interesting how little has been made by the UK media in regard to UK opinion on Israel's actions and the actions of our own government.

http://www.gulfnews.com/indepth/israelattacks/opinion/10056080.html

Bit naff and loaded questions tho really aren't they?

They really seem to stem from liberal ideas about the state of affairs over there, will it make Israel safer, can they destroy Hezbollah. These are pretty liberal questions in the sense that they are trying to make sense of a senseless situation by thinking that any of the action has a design, a plan or are an attempt to make the situation in the area better, rather then what it actually is, Israel blowing the crap out of someone who stood on their toes to make a point through violence.

What they should have asked are the more basic questions.

Do you support Israel's attacks against Lebanon.

Do you believe Israel's punishment of Lebanon is acceptable.

Do you believe Hezbollah is to blame for the situation.

Do you think Israel's attack will deter Hezbollah in the future from taking similar actions.

These are questions I would like to see the answers to on a scale that is larger then the bubble of U75, just to get an idea of what the country is thinking.

I'm pretty sure that there was a poster on here some years previously who claimed to have fought alongside the Phalangists in Lebanon at the time of the Sabra/Chatila massacres.

His name?

pete the sharp!!

He's been back loads under different names.

Fucking child-killing piss-ant surplus human being, shame he wasn't killed out there himself.

He's on Talksport from 8 -10 pm Sat. and Sundays. I know a lot of people on here don't like Talksport, but if you like George I recommend listening to his radio show.

I noticed that the sun was referring him to 'vile George Galloway praised Hezbollah terrorists yesterday.....' in one of their articles in the paper.

I think Galloway is a cunt but so is The Sun for it's propaganda.

...She'd lost the argument before it started with that comment, I used to have a bit of respect for Sky News as it wasn't generally any more biased than the BBC or ITN, and it tended to get stories before them, ...
Getting the story first is increasingly -- and unfortunately -- becoming the be all and end all in broadcast journalism, especially with the advent of 24 hour rolling news.

Personally, I'd rather report a story accurately than with haste and inaccuracies.

mhwfc said:
... but it's pro Isreali bias has become ridiculous lately, it's becoming more like Faux News by the day, just another Murdoch outlet. I guess the writing was on the wall a couple of years ago when Murdoch described Sky News as it was as "BBC lite" as if it was a bad thing.

Galloway came across as intelligent and well informed and just rang rings around her calling her on her bullshit as she parrotted the usual tired pro Israel/US line
Agreed.

He does know his stuff. Made her look a fool. Which is another danger of 24 hour rolling news. You can't possibly expect a presenter to get on top of so many briefs to the depth required for sensible and logical exploration of the issues. And there's not enough time given either.

You'd think 24 hour news might have led to more indepth coverage, but it's made everything arguably more superficial, because everything's got to be delivered in soundbites, and it's revolving more and more around the quarter hour, instead of half hourly or even hourly.

Instead of being news for people who are interested in news and current affairs, it's becoming news for people with the attention span of a goldfish, who can just channel hop, catch the latest headlines, then go back to watching dross.

Galloway 1
Murdoch the Devil 0

If we had people like Galloway and Benn in positions of power we would be a far more equal and less warmongering country and we arw now thats for sure.

Groucho said:
I took it as an attack on the bias of Sky and on her professional role as a Sky journalist asking loaded questions from a position of clear bias, rather than as an attack on her personally.

Agreed, Sky's ideology was evident in the interviewer's line of questions; she is just a mouthpiece for the Murdoch empire.

Galloway is a prick but I love it when he goes to town like this (remember him in the states last year?)!

i put it to you that all MP's are pricks its just Galloway happens to be a prick that speaks the truth when it comes to the Middle East and as one poster said before if we had more like Galloway and Benn in power then we would not be such a war mongering country.
Actually i take that back, i don't think Galloway is a prick because no one that speaks the truth with such passion can be a prick IMO but things he has done in the past not related to sticking it to the powers that be and deluded news presenters could be seen as being a bit of a prick

I mean, the presenter actually believed I think that this 'invasion' by Israel really began 4 weeks ago due to the capture of a soldier ffs!!

Where have all the good reporters gone instead of these doll faced idiots that give real intelligent women a bad name.

much as I think gorgeous george is a twonk, he really gave an excellent interview and knew his stuff. That sky presenter got the shit pile poured on her and a nice kick at the murdoch rolling news system. The finishing of gg (about the family on the beach killed by the israelies and then covered up) was excellent to watch

you could hear the cogs turning in the presenters head "oh shit, oh shit, oh shit" :D :D :D

Just came home from work and watched the interview (no sound on computer at work) and I have to say that GG totally destroyed the Sky interviewer IMO.

I can't say I am a great fan of the guy but as a debater he is without equal in the current Parliament.

Trouble is most people read Murdoch's 'rags' and take the 'Murdoch' view on 'news' as a gospel truth.
To get GG's view over to the masses he needs an interview on something like the BBC six o clock news - and that ain't gonna happen (from where I'm sitting).

Incidentally, though, I saw Sarah Montague, of R4 Today, presenting Hard Talk on BBC 24 the other day, she had two guests, both overseas students here in the UK, one from Israel, one from Lebanon.

It was shockingly and appallingly biased. I honestly would have expected better from a Today presenter.

Interestingly enuff the MOS said much the same thing about the Today programme this weekend.... biased and pro government and not very complimentary about James N either

Do you think so? Really?

I think so, if you think about it The Scum has one of the largest circulations i think? can not remmeber the exact figure. How many Sky dishes are there in this country? most seem to watch Sky news as default, i know my Dad and his partner do. I discussed the middle east problem years ago with them, critisised Israeli foreign policy and got called Anti-Semetic by them
Maybe not most people but certainly a large portion of people are influenced by Murdoch media

Just seen this

Tell me the name, of one member of the seven members of the same family slaughtered on the beach in Gaza by an Israeli warship. You don't even know their name, but you know the name of every Israeli soldier who has been taken prisoner in this conflict. Because you believe, whether you know it or not, that Israeli blood is more valuable than the blood of Leabonese or Palestians. That's the truth and the discerning of your viewers already know it.

Superb interview and spot-fucking-on.

Where did this come from?

A link would be grand, so that video-deprived peeps like me can read the interview in text form, ta :)

Point taken, but there is a big difference between "gospel truth" and "influenced" though.

I read a bit of the S*n the other day - It happens once in a while - I never buy it though.

It was full of the usual biggoted shite - how great Israel was and how they should drop more bombs...

:(

Not the best radio station in the world but a good two hours nevertheless.
No punches pulled....by anybody.

Spread the word?
