Furious driver takes out 50-strong cycle pack

well you asked them first in an attempt to back up your argument. Somehow, I very much doubt they do.

how "dangerous"? the only way to know is how many deaths/serious injuries came from it. without the figures you're making meaningless statements.

You don't think racing on the public highway is dangerous?

I don't think yours are the key questions at all. It is interesting why the pro cycling on the pavement mob have refused to address the simple point that given racing on the public highway is a very dangerous activity and a serious offence, why should cyclists be above the law?

who said they were racing?

The car and the cyclists were on the same road. If the conditions were unsafe for one they were unsafe for all.

they're only unsafe if you drive unsafely!

although I would certainly never go out on a road bike if there was black ice about, the car shouldof been driving slower

Ilogical nonsense. if there is black ice about you should not take to the road.

ISWYM

but either way the accident is the cars fault in both this case and the OP.

hence why it's cars that make it dangerous for cyclists!
FFS Cars make it dangerous for other cars

The essential point here is that riding too closely to the vehicle in front gives no room for recovery if something goes wrong. Couple that with skinny tyres, no protective clothing worth shit and the high speeds that trained cyclists can reach and it's a recipe for blood, bone, and death.

Impossible to avoid being too close to an overtaking vehicle at at least one point. Not without voiding the laws of physics...

Only when at the same time Cars decide to pull infront of said peloton of cyclists and slam on the brakes coz he's pissed off.

The cyclists killed 'in a pack' could have been cycling quite safely (they didn't plough into any pedestrians from what you say). It was the car that went out of control and the car that killed people. It shows just how prejudiced you are that this becomes the fault of the cyclists.

People who are in bus are travelling 'in a pack' so it's presumably their fault if they're killed too.

Yes I do :) It sounds like there should indeed be motor cycle outriders at front and back with large flappy things to warn of racing cyclists' approach.

Now I've answered your question, what is a more important indicator of danger than the number of people on the roads that a particular type of road user kills and maims? Whether or not they wear lycra presumably.
