fugees

Couldn't stand the fugees. The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill was ok when it came out but haven't heard it for years and won't be going back to it.

Some tracks of the first fugees album (Blunted On Reality) definitely stand up in the hip hop hall of fame way IMO:
-Lauryns solo track Some Seek Stardom a personal favourite:

Vocab was big

Nappy Heads was another killer:

...great debut album for sure.

They got so famous with singles of The Score that I suffered from over exposure and never bought/heard it, save the singles which didnt sound as good as the early stuff...

I was just chatting to a friend on AIM who worked with Pras for a bit a few years ago promoting a few nights and apparently he had some really interesting stories about why they split up

Apparently Wycleff and Lauryn Hill had a bit of a thing going on and the main reason that the band split up was cos Lauryn found out that Clef was one-timing her

That fugees album was teh first cd I ever got. I loved it.
I think it was the first album I got (didn't have many), and it was on tape because I didn't have a CD player. Was amazed by it, but then I was in secondary school so wtf did I know.

do you reckon they are up there with PE and KRS and WuTang and EPMD and DeLaSoul?

you listen back now and shit it is fucking genius. like for hiphop pop I would say they are one of the best ever

WuTang yes, I don't think those others are up there though.

Theres a good unplugged session Lauren Hill did for mtv, shes had about twenty of Kyanai Marleys kids which must be a bit of a strain on the old melon
