Fucking C*%TS

Bad stuff shouldn't happen to good folk. Not much to add apart from a big nod that it is worth the hassle of reporting it. Those crime figures are important in terms of police funding etc.

Hope you have a lovely Lido week for the rest of the season.

Thanks all. Yeah.. maybe it will turn up. Gaijinboy is buying another hard drive on the way home I'll have to spend a bit of extra time reloading all the data onto it, my phone/cards etc have been cancelled. Losing my diary/oyster card/young person's railcard (yes really - 'cos i'm a mature student) is really annoying.

I'm just so pissed off with myself for not noticing it coming off the bike. I realised right outside the lido when I stopped to go for a swim. As I cycled towards the Lido I was debating with myself whether I should go home first to drop off the pannier rather than take it into the lido as I was so paranoid about losing it - not realising I had dropped it 30 seconds earlier. :(

I reported it over the phone and apparently they'll call me back in about 48 hours time with a crime number.

WHat a shitty thing to happen. Sorry to hear that gg.
Maybe your phone isnt off. Maybe it has broken from the fall...just a thought....optimist me...:o

It is possible that a car ran over it.... the bag would have fallen into a gutter. But whoever picked it up got to it very quickly and no one has been in touch at all despite it being very clear who all the property belongs to with my home number as well as mobile number and loads of other important numbers.

I'm generally optimistic but I don't think I'll be seeing any of that stuff again.

Anyway, I probably shouldn't whinge so much. Ultimately it's all replaceable.. I'm just having a really shitty week and this hasn't helped.

Sorry to hear that. :(

Very odd that you can't report it online - I've done it for attempted theft of a moped in the past...

You can report minor crime on-line or by phone but I'm not 100% sure about lost property - that said they just give you a form to fill in at the station anyway - it's one way they could improve the service - "triage" all callers so those that can be given forms to fill in, etc. could be processed far quicker.

But I suspect the involvement of a mobile phone is the problem - far too many bogus reports so I think they've withdrawn the non-face to face reporting for loss or theft.

I've had stuff returned twice after thefts - once had a wallet returned from all the way from Paris where I'd been pickpocketed. (Minus cards/dosh but I think we all assume that's par for the course.....:( )

I hope the diary etc. turn up - sorry to hear about this bad shit.

Yes, there were posters all over the station about false mobile phone thefts. I did tell him though that the mobile phone was basically negligible.. it was the absolute cheapest model and is now of no use to anyone who has stolen it as the chip has been stopped and the handset blacklisted. The most useful thing anyone could do with it is throw it in a bin tbh....

But your post explains a lot. The guy I spoke to seemed especially interested in my mobile phone (whereas frankly it's the least important loss to me, I've got all the numbers stored anyway... it's the hard drive I want to get back!)
