£28 a day is pretty cheap anyway, init, all things considered. The only whinging you ever here about Glastonbury is:

From those who were unable to get a ticket
Those who didn't put pennies in their piggy bank
Those who have never been
Wankers in general

I've nevet met anyone (apart from chegs) who didn't like it.

I'll take categories 2 & 4 thanks.:p

I'm not going even if you give me a free pass. Never again.

If I'm to be waited on hand and foot in a palace then I'd seriously consider it. Particularly if the line up was really crap and there was no one playing that anyone else wanted to see.

Otherwise, not a chance.

Away trip to a footaball match on the train will set you back £100 - I reckon Glastonburys cheap in comparisson

And see how many festivals theses days fucking 3 a day over the summer or something

Football is one big scam anyway, looks like festivals could slowly go the same way.

Glastonbury season ticket?

Well I feel like going now with all this talk of it. :(

Well, my daughter has fallen out with her mate who is going with us, so if you can pass as a pretty petite 15 year old girl you can have her ticket.

(TBH I'm praying they're mates again by June.....)

Having just heard the 2 of them going at it hammer and tongs I'm ready to say fuck glastonbury as well:mad:

Or look for 2 random teenagers to take who are more fucking grateful

I'm going this year, 1st time since 91. Lineup looks shit to me but theirs about 40 of us going so should be a good laugh.

Has this year's Glastonbury line-up been posted yet? If so, where?

I wouldn't go so far to say "Fuck glastonbury" but I am pleased that I decided to go to Exit festival this summer, rather than Glasto, because we'll be flying to Budapest first for a few days, then train to Serbia and we'll be camping in a forest by a lake + the line up is good (and it was £50) :)

you have made an amazing choice

i went last year, had the time of my life.

There was one year, the first year they introduced the ring of steel i think, when it was really lovely. There was about 20,000 less than the year before, and loads less than they're letting in this year - and there was a fantastic atmosphere because of it. Really felt like this fun, mad playground, where you could spend five days wandering into any number of bizarre situations.

Things that ruined Glastonbury festival:

The dance tent. The atmosphere in that part of the field in the three or so years after its introduction was horrible.
Overcrowding. Why are they expanding the capacity to 175,000? That's an insane amount of people.
The second stage becoming a breeding ground for Coldplay-alikes.
Just a general complacency. I stopped going when I realised everything was in the same place, every year. It just did my head in.

I go camping that weekend now. It's great!
:)

(But I'd still go again...!)

Bargain of the year. Marvellous. :)

Maybe one day I'll get tired of it, join the "it's not as good as it used to be" gang, and want to do something else... but for now it's the highlight of my year. :)

Not going this year, but would again.. it is the big one, but that isn't to say smaller festivals can't be just as good.

If i could choose to visit just one festival in the UK, it'd be Glastonbury. As it is, this I'm going to none due to poverty, holiday allowance used up on HK/Aus and honeymoon.

I love Glastonbury. Its blatantly the best festival and I have had some of my happiest moments there. But it has become a bit of an ordeal. Most would agree with that, non?

It should be later in the summer... weather's too unsettled at the time of year they have it. It's wickedly wicked if its sunny, but if its a mudbath, like the last time I went, theres no worse place to be on earth.

I don't go camping every weekend, but my wife and I go camping a fair amount this days. There are a number of pubs in remote places that don't charge anything for pitching a tent.

unless you actually lose your tent in a flood, i don't see why people get vexed about getting drenched.

I didn't have a great glastonbury last time, but it had nothing to do with the weather. It doesn't bother me unduly.

Yeh well you prolly didn't save on costs by buying a £5.95 Argos tent ;) It didnt last long.

And you prolly had wellies.I ended up going barefoot I got so sick of trying to drag my shoes out of the mud. This was the year Macca headlined it. I was stuck in that mud for this entire hellish set. No escape.

What I thought rather sad at the last Glasto was the amount of tents, chairs, sleeping bags and other camping paraphernalia that was just abandoned at the end of the weekend.

What happened to it all? Presumably some bits and bobs were salvaged - but there must be tons of stuff at the end.

lots gets stored and used in the event of bad weather - the abandoned tents and sleeping bags etc get handed out to those who've lost theirs / are unusable.

A lot gets 'tatted' - we always used to go tatting on the Tuesday till someone found an OD victim's corpse in a tent. Kinda puts you off..

A lot of stuff looked like it had been intentionally trashed on the last day though rather than packed away for someone to resuse.

It was like throwaway consumerism gone mad I tell ye.
