Fried bread ..... yes or no?

all these anti fried bread people. Country's gone to the dogs mate, no wonder we lost the Empire

Fried spelt bread is the greatest of it all. Tastes quite fantastic! :)

Right up there with the best tattie scones to go with your fry-up.

It's dying out. Twenty years ago, I think most greasy spoons would have served fried bread, but I can't remember the last time I saw it on the menu.

Fried bread is very wrong, but strangely appealing when hung over.

Fried bread is so wrong that it actually becomes right and even, and I'm gonna go out on a limb here (join me if you dare), good for the soul.

Fried bread is extremely good spread with dark thick-cut marmalade....especially if the bread is fried in bacon fat.

I love fried bread, but I only ever have it in a cafe. I couldn't eat it if I had to see how much fat goes into it. :D

Me too. I have it about once a month when I treat the boys to a cooked breakfast in the cafe my teen works in. It's fantastic!

to the bacon fat bit but for marmalade replace with brown sauce.

Oh god the bacon fat. . .it's been so long. The bacon get grilled in our house now but the memory lives on

I like french toast, which is fried bread, I suppose, and also, deep fried cheese.

That, is the shizzle.:)

The weird thing is, I like french toast, which is - yes - fried. But I too would make the argument that it is a different thing. When I do french toast I don't fry it in that much oil though, although maybe others might.
Not the same, I say. Not the same!

aren't donuts just fried bread with some embellishments?

back in the early 1920s when my grandad was in an orphanage, one of the "treats" if you did well at school was a slice of fried bread sprinkled with brown sugar and cinnamon. He always reckoned it was better than any doughnut he ever tasted. :)

I only have it like once a year if anything..and even then I love it but can rarely finish eating it :( It's too fatty so I just stay clear away..
