Fri 27th June @ Plan Bum -- Runnin Jack Present... Tony Touch

But there's even a sticky on this forum that they would have to have seen. If they're not paying attention why should we give a crap about them? It's advertising, plain and simple, and the only exceptions are for stuff we regular urbanites do cos, well, I'm hypocritical enough to be happy hearing about what you lot are doing, but not give a crap about some promoter who offers nothing to the community.

I'll try to, below.

a) People don't always read the FAQs. They should be politely directed to read them & told that if they offer guestlist places or whatever then their post may be re-instated. Being rude, cliquey etc just comes across as if you (one) are (is) a complete fucking tosser, to be frank.

b) Obviously.

c) There should be no be no concessions for 'regular posters', no. Not even ones who change their names.

:)

I think that's toss, but I can't be arsed to argue about it.

Because it's polite?

Has anyone been impolite on this thread?

Conversely, since you're such a stickler for being polite, do you think it's 'polite' to show up on a message board, spam your night without any other input and then fuck off again?

Not the point. And I thought you said you can't be arsed? Make your mind up, please. Consistency really that hard for you to grasp?

If they can't be arsed to read the FAQs or even look around to learn the nature of the site, then they can't complain if their spam gets removed. It's just simple manners, really.

And if the poster had hung around long enough to see the responses then they would have learnt the error of their ways and had every opportunity to make amends. But this one was just a hit and run spam. Register - spam - flee.

The current system has worked without complaint for a long time. This way regular posters who contribute to the community get the chance to invite people to their events and some urbanites get free/discount tickets. Sure looks like a win-win to me.

Couse there should - there's lots of groups on friends on here who will want to support what others are doing, it's a world away from some promoter trying to get free advertising.

If you can't see that you're a bit dim really :)

You've given him what, a couple of hours?

Not true. I have been bringing up the issue of consistency relating to this and other matters for some time. As you are well aware.

Nice of you to resort to a personal attack.

How does one become part of one of these 'groups of friends' then? If their first post or posts are rudely slated, they may well (quite rightly) think that this website is cold and unfriendly to new posters.

If he's rude enough to charge in here, ignore the rules, the sticky thread and the FAQ just to selfishly advertise his own money making event and then not even hang around for a few minutes to read a response, then why should I give a fuck?

And you're still not making any sense on the subject either.

What is your point here? I have acted absolutely to the letter of the FAQ. Again.

If this website is seen as cold and unfriendly to hit-and-run FAQ-ignoring spammers looking to exploit the place for their own profit, that's just dandy by me :)

Onket - if you walked into a pub you'd never been to before, would you expect the landlord to treat you exactly the same as his regulars? And the regulars to treat you as they do each other?

You're welcome :)

Reading threads, contributing to discussions, going to meetups/nights. It's not hard :)

Awwww, diddums :)

Atually read the words you'd see that people are disuading new posters from becoming part of these groups that you think are so great. Saying "Awwww, diddums :)" succeeds only in making you look like a dick. Keep up the good work. :)

Strange then that there seems to be a constant stream of new posters here that do hang around and become friends with others :)

It's not a pub, you buffoon.

I don't agree with giving regular posters a better deal anyway, but you are scuppering your own arguement if you don't give new posters any reason to become regular posters/contributors. Don't really see how you can't see that, seeing as it's obvious.

Most of the idiots appear to like it here & stay. Who knows what the people who you are rude to might be like.
