Freeze All Food Prices

The solution is local growing and allotments for all on a national version of the Greenthumbs model in New York, or the food co-operatives in Havana. Multi-nationals wouldn't be so much challenged as out-fought in the market, which would be ironic. Multi-nationals can no longer afford to offer ultra-cheap food because of fuel costs. Urban gardens and rooftop gardens as suggested by Plaid, the Greens etc would need minimal (if any) use of fuel in production and transport. Wales for example is technically self-sufficient in food, but land is deliberately left unused so as not to compete with imports.

Where a price settles down relative to demand vs supply.

And cartels are only ever successful for the cartel. Price controls don't work, they've been shown not to work many times, most recently during the SE Asian recession following the currency devalutations when several states attempted to institute price capping and found they ran out of many goods to sell, and/or created greater medium term instability in production costs, which ultimately led to more poor people not getting anything to eat.

Equilibrium in prices relative to supply and demand is abstract, bourgeoise economic bollocks, that does not take into account externalities, like the rate of exploitation.

What highlights the madness of this theory is when you see food markets in equilibrium, whilst at the same time people are starving, because they cannot afford to pay the high equilibrium price.

I see you accept that price controls do work for the cartel though in a way to maximise their profits.

I don't know about cartels .but if you notice and go to different retail group stores how if one cuts price of milk the other follows quite quickly i suppose that is the neolibs beloved market in action.loyalty points another load old bollocks penny in the pound but tescos profit didn't decrease so their getting it back somehow free carrier is another myth:D
