freeview retune wednesday (noon 30th Sept)

I don't think my remote control is capable of retuning my box - only a couple of the buttons work. This might be just the straw that broke the camel's back tbh.

My telly retunes at 3am every day automatically.

my remote is a universal one which has random abilities or otherwise, so this is probably just as well.

I was one of the many who bought a hard-drive set-top box, all pausing and recording functions etc. The fucker stopped working last summer, like everyone else’s. The fucking numpty in Dixons who sold it to me told me I could plug a usb in the back and download all my recordings when I used up the 80 hours memory. That was bollocks too.

So now I've got a redundant set top recorder freeview box, full of Larry Sanders and other fabulous shows destined for posterity, which I can't use any more. And nobody can do fuck all about it.

So I would expect this scenario to continue, in various incarnations, throughout the entire digital age until everyone revolts and just uses the internet. Which will no doubt break at some point too.

I have apparently 58 TV stations, 12 radio and 11 other.

I've lost BBC4 and all BBC Radio Stations...fucking BBC muppets

Still got ITV 3 and 4 and also acquired dave +1

I don't want to be a square-eyed idiotbox addict but my thing is ooooold and the remote is knaaaaaackered and I really think that this might fuck it all up and this scares me.

Where will I be without virgin+1 X-Files at 7pm? That's pretty much the only thing I watch apart from that Law and Order with Mr Big in it

mine did but there was no 5, ITV 3 or ITV 4...seems I swapped them for BBC4 which I'll miss as it has some decent documentaries on after midnight when I usually get home

Five retunes later and some aerial tweaking i seem to have recovered most if not all of my channels.

(I hope it will sort itself out in due course.)

If you are missing channels;
Switch off "favourites" file if you have one and then look for missing channels.
Some of my favourite channels were not reloaded into the folder.

I didn't retune any and all the channels are there. In fact, Channel 5 and 20 have reappeared, but they disappear and reappear all the time anyway.

I'm going to retune now. I always know if it's going to be successful. If the retune is half way through and there's only 71 channels, I know I've lost them all. If I get towards 100 channels, it's normally a success.

If I lose Channel 5 now, I'm coming looking for you

Five is on ITV4 but with another channels subtitles. Not a lot else different. Do I get some new channels if I retune?

ah well, it did say they expected around 460,000 with relay transmitter signals to lose ITV3 and ITV4

All my channels seem intact but I'll wait until Saturday/Sunday afternoon which is when they start to disappear before I get too excited at being able to see a decent picture on 5.

Curiously both Channels 4 and 5 on analogue seem to have fixed themselves as well.
