Sure - how will you get there? 35 bus or tube? I can meet you on Brixton Hill if that makes things quicker.. you would probably need to bring some oil to ease it on to a wrist... ;):D

35 i think (or tfl seem to think that a bus/tube combo would take 45 minutes)
brixton hill would be fine - stocked up on oil the other day :D

Seeing Blur in front of a couple of hundred people for free? You lucky sods. :D

They did one in Colchester recently to a tiny audience, too. At one point they had a show of hands to decide which song to do next.

Yup, it was on Saturday night, in a tiny village called Chappel. My housemate saw Damon Albarn whizzing down a country lane on a white BMX. A couple of my friends went and said that it was about the best thing that had ever happened. Went to my parents yesterday and my Dad said 'Oh, I could've gotten us tickets to that.'

that was a BRILLIANT gig :)
congrats to ohmyliver for out-determining the bouncers (i forgot the oil, and i think his knuckles would've been too big to slip the wristband on anyway) - and cheers to gajingirl for passing on the pass

i got to the third row and am a bit mingy sweaty now :o. and i *swear* alex james gave me a cheeky wink.
*melts*

massive thanks ianw for posting this up :)

You lucky lucky lucky bird

What did they play? Was it at Rough Trade?

I saw Blur do an invite ony gig in front of about 200 people at an industry awards celeb-tastic bash.

I was sat next to Alan Titchmarsh and was off my tits on some rocketfuel popstar coke I'd found in the loo. Top night!

:D

I saw them play 1 song at the MTV awards do in Paris in 1996 (I think it was). True story- I won the tickets/trip through Burger King.

Didn't have any coke though.

It was very very hot in Rough Trade. Bloody fantastic though. No mockney parping horns, no mid 90's indie-approved string quarter. Just the four of them, making a hell of a punk rock racket. Graham even smiled at one point. They played:

She's So High
Girls And Boys
The mighty Advert
For Tomorrow
End Of A Century
Beetlebum
Coffee And TV
Tender
Out Of Time
The even mightier Popscene (always my favourite live tune and tonight it was louder and faster than I've ever seen them do it)
Song 2
Parklife
This Is A Low

yes, it was a good gig. i realised that I have not seem 'em live since down the zap club in brighton oct '90 though. (mostly due to being perenually skint during the '90s)

They look like naughty uncles now.

And thanks again the chain of people that enabled me to go.

Alex's book was good. I always thought he was a right wanker but I warmed to him after reading it. Mainly because he says 'I was a right wanker' throughout. Worth reading.

i knew him in the 80s - he was always a cheese-gourmet fop :D
