France v South Korea

The so-called goal hasn; been the problem - the manager has a poor squad and a bizarre selection policy.

How the hell did he pick Dhorasoo, but leave Guily out of the squad altogether  The midfield is terrible - Vieira and Makele essentially do the same thing so its left to Zidane to create everything for Henry.

Trezeguet is a waste of space, Saha should be partnering Henry upfront from the off.

Sagnol was the only decent player France had last night.

France = The New Spain :D

If France were 2:0 up, the rest of the game would have been totally different -- it might have given France the major confidence boost they need to push them to the next round -- Zidane might not have received a 2nd yellow card -- they might have scored a 3rd goal, etc. Instead they got into a draw with a mediocre team.

So thje fact they played some of the dullest football so far in their two games hasn't affected the outcome?

the french had enough chances to kill the game, didn't take them, looks like they might be getting an early trip home again:D

They scored 2 goals - perhaps psychologically getting the 2nd would have given them a much needed boost.

koreans are mental over here as well

all the kids were knckered today cos they had been staying up till 5am to watch the game. my neighbourhood has a big screen and everyone goes and sits and shouts at it:cool:

They showed it again this morning on BBC news, and it was definately over the line. The reporter also made that point.

Was it from a new angle?

If it wasn't, sorry, nothing proven.

First time I've seen it from over the goalline. Fair enough. The other angles showed nothing conclusive at all though.

Linesman had the goalie's body between him and the ball, referee was on the edge of the area - no way either of them could reasonably have given it.

True and correct on that, but i feel that's a bit of an excuse for Le Bleus, who put up and insipid peformance imvho* who should have put away the Asian Red Devils. Plus it didn't suprise me that France sat back in a match they controlled for 80 mins and missed a couple of chances to make it 2-0 before Park equalised for the South Koreans - fair play to them for not giving up. The Korean fans kep on singing and chanting thorough the match

It looks like France may not qualify for the second round for second tournament in a row. Which means they've got to beat Togo and hope that the Swiss do them a favour and beat Korea (in the group decider) by 2 or 3 clear goals (i think).

* As i've said before, It seems the decision by Domenech not to pick Ludo Giuly was ludicrous. Plus the tactics by him and not putting Saha to partner Henry is mystifying to say the least. If France don't qualify to the knockout stages, Monsieur Domenech will get Le Boot (The Sack)! The look of Zidane to Domenech whilst he was substiuted said to all for me about France at the moment.

If we beat Togo, and the S. Korea match doesn't end in a draw, then we go through at the expense of the loser in the other game. As runners up though. And I think this means playing Spain.

As far as last night's game goes, I was ready to post a comment about how much we ha dimproved compared to the Switzerland game, but express a concern at the the lack of a second goal to kill the game off. Then the Koreans scored and made my point better than I ever could. I have actually been quite relaxed about our games this year as I don't expect les bleus to achieve much, but the way we dominated last night it was a little hard to take. All credit to the Koreans though, and yes, they do have the best fans in the world - 300,000 on the streets of Seoul watching the match on big screens at about 4am!!!!

I'm another who can't understand Giuly being left out of the sqaud. As I said in the other thread, Ribery looks good but he is inexperienced. At least Giuly has played in the champions league etc. and proved himself there.

Hopefully, there will be a rebuilding exercise after this world cup regardless of the outcome. It's been long overdue.

Or Korea beat the Swiss while France beat Togo should do it ?
