Fraggle Rock

Oooohhhh THAT old chestnut, Chish & Fips!

Do you know, I don't think I ever sat through an entire episode of it beyond the opening credits (if that)? It always seemed to me that the best CITV programems were on first in the running-order (things like Dangermouse, Duckula, Dramarama etc) with excruciatingly uninteresting (to me) programmes on towards the end - which merely served to remind me to do the piles of shitty homework I had.

you can go stay at fraggle rock?

o.m.f.g.

i am so going there

Fraggle Rock is not very far away from where I live, be advised I suggest aircraft flight deck quality ear muffs as well as earplugs if it is foggy:-

Quote:-
You are reminded that St Anthony's lighthouse is an operational lighthouse and there is an electronic fog signal that operates automatically, ear plugs are provided in case conditions are misty.

Count Duckula yay! - never really got into Dramarama tbh
Children's ward and Knightmare on the other hand

Fraggle Rock rocked. What were the big monsters called? I can never remember.
I remember those, but not what they were called, unfortunately. I seem to remember that they worshipped some kind of living rubbish-tip, though.

After the disapointment of buying Dungeons & Dragons on DVD (I used to think it was the best thing ever as a kid, but time hasn't been kind :( ) I caught Fraggle Rock on Boomerang and I must say it really has stood the test of time.

It rocked big time. I'd forgotton about the little green men who built things and I forgot how good the theme tune is!

It's on at 8:30am and 2am on Boomerang - well worth setting the Sky+ for.

The Doozers were my favourite, and even now theres one person I like to reffer to as Uncle Travelling Mac (even though she is a girl. She travels alot you see.)

Knightmare was great, seeing as I was well into the Fighting Fantasy Gamebook series at the time.

Dramarama was at it's best during it's "Dramarama: SPOOKY!" themed-run.

Children's Ward I never watched.

Then there were things I simply couldn't stand - like How To Be Cool, Press Gang (heretical to say, I know...), Spatz (imported Canadian show about a hamburger cafe) and that thing about a load of cycle couriers - the title of which eludes my memory.

Better let you know there's no actuall Fraggles or Doozers or anything like that there, though - just so you're not bitterly dissapointed, like ... ;)

But what about the locals? <joke>

I had a wind up Doozer in his contruction outfit. Looked like a tiny green member of the Village People.

I'd forgotten about Dramarama - I used to love that! And whilst we're at it, anyone remember Choky?

PS - the monsters were called the Gorgs (can't believe I just Googled that!)

too early for me - read one of the spin off books though, ok but rubbish compared to Wyndham's origanal :p went to secondary school with a girl who looked like one of the *ugly* children in it though

Spatz was Canadian (I think...) and was supposed to be funny.

Chocky I remember as well - the original series was an adaptation of John Wyndham's novel and was by far the best, imo. After that it got a bit tired, I thought.

Regarding the Gorgs from Fraggle Rock, what was that rubbish tip they worshipped called, then?

Oh, and does anyone know why the CITV schedule lineup on wednesdays was always so utterly crap?

I remember Wednesdays as being second only to Sundays in terms of there being absolutely nothing interesting on the telly.

Spatz was a co-production between Thames and a Canadian TV channel. I quited liked it :o

Kightmare was THE greatest kids show ever and it was on a friday which made it that bit more enjoyable!

Does anyone remember that New Zealand-made show Children of the Dog Star?

That really freaked me out as a kid...
Didn't think much of it. All that seemed to happen for the first umpteen episodes was that a stupid spikey arial on top of a shed would occasionally click round a notch.

Nope but I remember a scary as fuck New Zealand show called "children of the Fire Mountain"

Thinking back, it must have been the tattooed Maoris that scared the shit out of me.

fuck I reconise him but I wasn't evenm born yet
eta: and I wrote that before seing a near identical comment on youtube

Old thread bump as I have just heard about Fraggle Rock: The Movie which as far as I can tell was due for 2011 release but has been put back. Hard not to like Fraggle Rock I think :)
Wasn't the US version of Fraggle Rock different, though? As in, they shot the puppet sequences and used them all around the world, but the live-action stuff was localised. So the Fraggle Rock film will probably be the US version, and thus not feature the lighthouse.

Anyway. I used to watch that Aussie series, The Girl From Tomorrow. That was good.
