Formula 1 is crap - discuss

Less horsepower or summat.

No no :p

In F1, all cars are different almost all the way through. In some of the lower classes, cars have to be the same. I know GP2 (the rename for either F3000 or F3) doesn't do this but many of the lower classes do to minimise the cost of racing, prevent cheating etc.

it brings back the whole driver rather than the machine lead championships

the car would be heavy as ras in the start sluggish to turn in and slower, there'd be a quick bit in the middle of the race where the car was runnign in the sweet spot, there'd be no chance of being able to lay down lap after lap of excessive faster and faster laps cos you'd run out of fuel, and at the end of the race the car would be skittish and jumpy...

nothing will ever beat watching nelson peqiutte pushing his car over the start finish line to win after the ablsoute bloody battle he had to get to p1...

cars which might run otu of fuel would mean more overtaking more and differeing team tactics and the ever present possiblity they might run out of fuel...

all in all much better racing....

Well... I doubt you'll see cars running out of fuel... but the rest sounds about right with what I imagined

That sounds like a pretty neat idea, but dont you run the risk of drivers not pushing the cars to the max to help fuel consumption? BTW has anyone seen the draft concorde in F1 racing this month, it basically goes on about less technology, and downforce and a return to slicks, yay!

Well, less electronics that teams can play around with - still going to have lots of technology but it'll be in materials.

Hasnt Mosley also bandied around some idea of storing the energy from braking to gererate extra boost for overtaking? I think that would be a pretty neat idea, i think they do something similar in champ cars.

Haven't heard him suggest it.

Yep he's done a U-Turn on technology after the teams all complained and he shat himself. Stuff like eneergy from braking to power the electronics - the basic idea is to get more technology that could be apllied to road vehicles eventually.

Strange then that McLaren did this in 1998 and were told it was illegal and they shouldn't bother  Yet another FIAsco
