Cottage is not in the clear yet:

Former BNP candidate Cottage, of Talbot Street, Colne, had pleaded guilty to the possession of explosive substances during his first trial.

He will be sentenced on 31 July and could face a maximum jail term of 14 years.

Practically every household in Britain has explosive substances and/or precursor chemicals for explosives in it.

I'll take your word for it, but wouldn't it be fair to say 'some households massively more and more suspiciously than others'?

Mr Cottage has not denied that he had stuff in order to make bombs. He claims, IIRC, that he'd make the bombs come social breakdown and the onset of civil war.

the other issue is that , as the Griffin trial goes, it is hard to find an all white jury in parts of the north of england which doesnt already contain one BNP voter on it. you only need 2 more mugs who wont play the game and you get a hung jury. Both were guilty as hell BNP Terrorists, and walked on the main charges

anyone for Sharia law for fascists?

Why do you need an all white jury?

No.

nit sure if it is still the case in edngland, but arent jurors able to reject one or two jurors if they dont "look" sympahtetic to the defendant- ie asian people at a trial of nazis?

He does appear to be somewhat mentally unhinged, so it depends what the pre sentencing reports say. He might well be sectioned instead.
He's pleaded guilty - so he'll be sentenced, maybe to ordinary imprisonment, maybe to some secure mental institution lke Broadmoor.

But he won't be "sectioned". That is entirely unconnected with criminal conviction.

How do people feel about him getting 2 1/2 years?

Given that he was not convicted of conspiracy to cause explosions and what the judge said (she seems to accept everything Cottage said about his crime), the sentence seems a little harsh, but I'm not really surprised. Letting him off with a non-custodial sentence would give the wrong message to other would-be bomb-makers and bomb-hoarders.

And any other Muslim he had any relationship would have at the least been questioned if not their house raided.

its a low sentance, but it looked like the judge bought the line that the weapons were for self defence (they were thunderflashes apparently)

One other thing- this conviction is attributable in part to the quite reasonably held terror fascists fear from militant antifascism. It may well have pushed this sadcase over the edge. If anything, another reason for the re-introduction of militant antifascism against individual nazis. A few more sadcases like him, and the BNP are going to end up getting banned.....
