Footless Tights - yay or nay?

I hate footless tights... you can't see any leg - what's the point?

Jeans - good for looking at bums
Tights - good for looking at legs
Bare-legged - good for looking at legs
Footless tights - good for nothing, really - bum usually hidden by long top, skirt or dress, legs hidden by what are basically leggings AKA Waynetta Slob.

I can see no good in them. And they make anyone white look really pale.

Sorry :( what would you like me to wear for your viewing pleasure?

Whatever you like. Far be it from me to dictate what people wear, I was just giving my opinion on footless tights. In a slightly letchy way, admittedly.

I appreciate they might be comfy and practical, I just think they look shit.

Anyway, ignore me, I like skater girls.

Think I'll stick to the footless tights then

That was a close one though, I was THIS close to burning them all.

I was very into leggings and footless tights when they were the in thing twenty years ago, one of the big advantages of them being that you could wear really short skirts and remain decent throughout. Twenty years on I'm less keen because I've got varicose veins and my ankles are not a thing of beauty.

Also, overall I'm not sure whether I like the look or not. They're not the same length we wore them back then, they're either shorter or longer, and mostly they're thinner (that's the advent of Lycra I think), and I'm not sure about all the other things you're supposed to wear them with. But I did see someone yesterday wearing footless tights with hi-top trainers which I thought looked good, I might have to investigate that. It looked not dissimilar to what I would have worn in the Old Days, not that we would have worn trainers except for playing sports, more likely DMs. My staple wardrobe was leggings, skirt/dress and boots for a long long time.

......I have heard about the 'don't wear it if you wore it when young' thing and have a fear of looking like mutton dressed as lamb (or should that be oryx dressed as faun?)

I really like that silhouette of long t-shirt/shirt/short dress over either trousers, leggings or footless tights though. I'm glad to see the back of the cropped/short top look, which was never flattering on anyone.

To people contemplating capelets, I give you my other half's nan. You might want to reconsider. I quite fancy one of these to wear in bed when reading on chilly nights, but I didn't inherit the one in the photo. :o:o:o:o

I quite like that. Are capelets in?

I have contemplated knitting myself something similar, but don't have the skill/needles/time. My own gran could make things like that - she could cable-knit and turn heels on socks, and knit with circular needles. <stands back in admiration>

<also waits for fashionable young thing to confirm if capelets are in or not>

I remember wearing footless tights back in the late '70s. (In my teens, I hasten to add!). With a batwing dress, gold stiletto mules and a sash made out of peach-coloured irridescent beads. Stomping my ass off to Donna Summer's 'I Feel Love'. :D:D
