This. I think I said in one of the Cricket threads that all you get with the referral system is bad decisions after a delay; at least if the decisions are made by the on-field umpires you get instant bad decisions.

It also shows that the teams involved are more capable of making shit decisions than the officials are. I saw Australia referring one in the last Test which clearly pitched outside leg, it was a complete waste of their time and resources to look at it. It's a complete joke and has been found to be so in other sports where it's been tried.

England had a referral like that off Panesar in the last test in the Windies - insane, was obviously pitching outside leg, but got referred nonetheless, ditto players who refer lb decisions when they are obviously plumb.

E2A: mind you, the biggest joke I've seen so far was when Strauss got an obvious edge, got given not out on the field, got referred and still given not out.
