Football revolution?

Sorry. said:
What's this bit doing in here? Why does accepting whatever bollocks the club wants to chuck you make you a good fan?

As an individual IMHO its to late for romantic views of club control, its about money, until it inplodes it will remain about money

money = control

Utopian or not - I don't have a problem with people wanting to run their club and I think it's positive for them to act on it.

I did approach editor with this argument before, but he declined to see my point...particularly as my 'local' league team growing up was 2 hours away, and my family connections team, where I spent every weekend, was 2.5 hours away (and five minutes from my mam's family home)
It's true - I do find it very odd how a Welshman who endlessly bangs on about his Welshness can choose to support a superstar £££ English team.

Seeing as you're willing to support the breakaway FCUM why don't you support a Welsh team of the same stature?

Each to their own, I guess.

As anyone knows - you don't choose a team, it just happens. Please read my recent post on the 'Whats your excuse' thread as I can't be arsed going over it again with you.

Cash donation, founder membership and I went to their last game.

Fair enough, good for you

Will you joining the actual playing or admistration/organisation side of things to ensure that history doesnt repeat itself and you gain the control you crave?

Nor do I, I just dont think in reality theres much chance of it happening and personally I have to many other things to worry about/do to make it so

doesn't explain why you find it necessary to have a go at people who are making it so. Unless you're jealous :p

Are you having a laugh? The board of FCUM are elected by the fans, and I have full confidence in them.

My footballing skills are limited to a once-a-year works game, and playing PES4 on the PS2

I havent had a go at anyone??

I just find it funny that its taken so long for the fans of a club who have taken them for granted for a long time have suddenly sprung into action...... It seems to me being an outsider that whilst the champions were winning stuff and unbeatable all was quiet and now that theres signs of losing a winning grip its all kicked off so to speak....... I wonder if Glazier is the real reason and how long the enthusiaum for FCUM will last

But don't you feel any compulsion - as a proud Welshman - to support a Welsh team?

It strikes me as odd - you grow up supporting Man Utd and now you're going to support a second English team, 'FCUM'. Why not a struggling Welsh team instead?

No doubt some may paint FCUMs progress as some sort of grand battle against the odds, but it's obvious that they're going to be the champagne charlies of whatever lower league they inhabit.

I wish them al the best, mind (I may even be involved in helping them with their website), but I just don't understand your enthusiasm for English teams.

But like I said, each to their own.

your first post on the thread started "FUCK both FCUM, ManUre and there spoilt fans"

They're so upset at not winning trophies that they set up a team North-Western Counties Division 2?

Editor - thank you for your reasonably stated comments. I note you do not hound the poster '1927' in the same manner, despite him being a West Ham supporter from Cardiff. Why is this so?

I would also like to refer you to the post I made on the 'Excuses' thread. I presume you may have overlooked my previous reference to it an another reply to yourself from me.

Incidentally, I have only recently become a Welsh Nationalist. You, with your age, may have three decades of hardcore Welsh Nationalism under your belt, but as they say, small acorns.

Not 'cyntaf i'r felin ga'i falu' eh?

In my eyes its a bit of a "its my ball and im going home" situation. I honestly dont understand what it will achieve, if its about regaining fan power in football why not support and an exsiting "Supporter run club" and add weight to there battle?

The MUFC supporters setting up what would become FCUM were approached by Leigh RMI who wanted the MUFC exiles to take over Leigh and rename it. The MUFC supporters said that would be contrary to the purpose of FCUM, and akin to the Wimbledon franchising situation.

It was settled amicably, and Leigh RMI hosted FCUM in their first game, a friendly which ended 0-0, two weeks ago.

that is actually a very good idea chief... every supporter who feels disenfranchised with their club should all support AFC Wimbledon rather than start a club that they feel captures the soul and essence of what their club was about... that way, one day everyone on the planet will support one team, and sing with one voice.

beautiful.

Well because the people setting the club up have a coherent identity as Manchester United fans and want their club to reflect that?

And it (football) is our (the fans) ball, and we're more than entitled to take it home ;) :D

Because he hasn't posted up zillions of posts criticising the English and banging on about how wonderfully Welsh he is, month after month after month.

Next!

OK you've convinced me and I wish you good luck, if I may I'll go back to the words of my original posting and amended it to say just "FUCK ManUre"

If I ever get to pissed off with my club I'll be supporting AFC Wimbledon

Certainly - although I didn't see you complaining at the time. Now please address my carefully-thought response in Ferents thread.

Which club - Tottenham or Luton?

Do you have any others up your flimsy sleeve?

Im a Tottenham fan Ernie, I've never said Im a Luton fan, only that I have a small soft spot for Luton, I think its a fairly common thing in football to have a passing interest in another team for whatever reason

If you would you could set up a poll about it as I dont know how to, it would be interesting to see if my theory is true dont you think?

How much is it in at Vicarage Rd?

Oops, forgot about this thread.

I'm not sure how much it is now as I haven't been for a couple of years. I'd hazard a guess at £20 or so.
