Football Italia on Channel 5

I think me and you are the only people who watch Football Italia on here, stavros!

:D

Yeah, probably. I imagine most folks yesterday were watching the Premiership stuff, which I just don't enjoy as much. I'd like to see the BBC venture into continental domestic football, perhaps with some Dutch and French stuff which produce a lot of future Premiership players. They'll have fuck all men's football after this season I think, which is a real shame.

Very much looking forward to this week; Serie A finishes next Sunday, Ranger-Zenit St Petersburg in the UEFA Cup final on Wednesday, and top of the pile, the daddy of all football competitions, the FA Cup final on Saturday.

I would like to see more continental football.

They do actually show dutch and french football on channel5 - its just on at 4am.

I would like to see Spanish football, maybe some Portuguese, myself.

Anyway - I reckon Inter are gonna crack in this last match of the season and lose the title.

Conclusion to Lo Scudetto 2007-08

I've been watching Channel 5's coverage of Football Italia, whenever i got the chance this season. And the climax to the season has mirrored to what happened in the Premier£hip last week (in terms of the final day drama)

So Inter who should have wrapped up the title at least 3 weeks ago, finally do it after beating Parma 2-0 away. Zlatan Ibrahimovic scoring both goals coming on as a sub. Thus Inter win their 3rd title in a row (16th overall in the centenary year)& Parma the twice UEFA Cup winners are relegated (could they be another Leeds?). Whilst the Giallorosso Roma can only draw 1-1 away to Catania.
Meanwhile Fiorentina get a deserved 4th spot over Milan, who imo never looked like getting that spot - even though they finished quite strongly. The rossoneri & Ancelotti paying the price for putting too much faith in the old guard of players in their squad. The revamp has started for them with Flamini joing them on a free from Arsenal.

I'm not sure if i'm right but is Ancelotti will still be Milan's coach for next season?. Also since Roberto Mancini winning another title will he'll still be the Nerazzuri (Black& Blue) coach? With the possibility of a certain self styled special one to replace him?

Sunday, 18 May 2008 - Week 38 Results:-

AC Milan 4-1 Udinese (HT 0-1) : AC Milan qualify for the UEFA Cup - It'll be a comedown for them. Especially if they play Pompey next season !! ;) I think Sampdoria also gain a UEFA Cup slot as well. Udinese are in the Intertoto Cup.

Atalanta 2-0 Genoa (HT 1-0)
Cagliari 2-2 Reggina (HT 1-0)
Catania 1-1 Roma (HT 0-1): Roma runners up for the 3rd year in a row!
Empoli 2-1 Livorno (HT 1-0) Empoli are relegated
Lazio 2-1 Napoli (HT 1-0)
Parma 0-2 Inter Milan (HT 0-0): Inter are champions in their centenary season - their 16th Serie A title , Parma the twice UEFA cup winners are relegated.
Siena 2-2 Palermo (HT 1-2)
Torino 0-1 Fiorentina (HT 0-0): Fiorentina take the 4th European Cup spot. They go into the 3rd qualifying round to get into the group stage next season.

Yeah I know, I've tried taping it but our reception for C5 is pretty shit on analogue, which is what the VHS runs off. Very fuzzy and no sound.

Glad the Viola got 4th over Milan. Inter were obviously weakened by injuries (Cambiasso especially I thought), but they did to lack much incisiveness until Ibrahimovic came on. Also, I had no idea Fernando Couto was still playing, because I don't think I'd seen Parma play until today. I remember him playing for Fiorentina with Rui Costa and Batigol 15 years ago or so.

Didn't know that a certain Juve Capitano i.e. Alessandro Del Pierro is Lo Capocannoniere i.e. the top scorer in Serie A 07/08! He scored 21 goals and he overtook David Trezeguet (who scored 20 this season) in their 3-3 draw against Sampodria in Genoa last night.

But he's had a good season for the Bianconeri and most Italy fans will be hoping that Roberto Donadoni gives him a recall for the Italian Euro 2008 squad. Good to see Sampdoria back in European footie, whilst they pipped Udinese for the 2nd UEFA cup spot.

Delighted to see the Viola take the 4th CL spot.

Milan were finished in last season's CL final. Liverpool beat a better team in 2005 and lost to has beens in 2007.
