Football is rubbish

cop out. am waiting for a decent, well contructed argument here, i fear you cant give it. None of you have tried yet....none of you have even explained why you dont like football.

It's shit.

anyway, back to your claim that ALL women are disappointed if blokes don't like football.

it's not true is it? :)

I had a discussion about men who dont like football with my girlfriends over the weekend, and sorry to say this lads but all of them felt disappointed if a chap says he doesnt like football.

I know there is nothing fundamentally 'wrong' with and the girls do too but theres a sense of honour and loyalty to the game that represents a kind of honour and loyalty a woman wants in a relationship. And the team-player aspect is something women love about men too, along with male bonding.

So thats why we get a bit weird (in our own heads, like 'disappointment') when a man says he doesnt like football - and dont think we dont, because we do.

if he doesnt like football but does follow other sport, the disappointment is less so.
By christ you're a stupid twat.

Get it into your pathetic arrogant head that people may just have views that differ from yours.

If all your mates are like you then I'm fucking glad I don't know them, they sound like a bunch of wankers.

Definately not ALL women, but I'm with cheesypoof on this. There's something really lovable about a bloke who supports a first or second division team, especially when they're about to get relagated and they still devotedly go and see them every Saturday. It shows loyalty, and a capacity to commit. It also shows that they have mates. And at least you know they'll be out of your hair every Saturday.:)

i didnt say all women - that isnt the debate anyway - the reasons i gave are the reasons there is a tendency for some women to be disappointed....i wish one of you would explain why you dont like football though, instead of reacting aggressively cos it just makes you look defensive.

is it because you find yourselves having to explain why to people all the time?

The only people you ever have to explain it to are idiots like yourself who consistantly refuse to accept that others may not share their world view :)

yeh i think we need female opinion on this - i will probably post it in the sex forum later so we can see what the girls think...focusing on the things we associate with masculinity and football: brotherhood, loyalty, camaraderie, team-player, male bonding that kinda thing - the things we associate with football and some positive qualities we like to see in men.

if you think women are daft to associate these things with football and therefore wouldnt have GOOD REASONS for that disappointment, you are being ignorant. I think men make similar associations too

its hilarious the way lads on this thread are getting so defensive about listening to what women say, and keep banging on about numbers without looking at the reasons above, innit? lol

you had it. and you ignored it.

I don't like football because I know very little about it and am quite bored by watching it.

It doesn't inspire anything in me. I just don't 'get' the idea of supporting a team. A lot of my friends do like football and I've seen some of them genuinely upset when their team loses and absolutely ecstatic when their team wins. It just doesn't affect me like that. I don't know why but I'm not in the least bit bothered by it.

so every woman voting on that poll is wrong and you are right?

yes you did...

well stop focussing on that and look at the reasons i gave as to why i reckon a lot of girls WOULD be 'disappointed' when their new bloke says he doesnt like football.

nah, not interested. You came up with some utter bullshit, now entirely discredited. that'll do me :)

hardly any women would be disappointed about a bloke not being interested in football - it's certainly never impacted on my life - so why should i give a fuck if someone is daft enough to hold that opinion? really not my problem (or,it appears, hardly anybody elses :D )

Nice wriggle there. You been taking lessons from Jazzz?

this thread is hilarious - and you guys are in the minority anyways..... theres nothing WRONG with not liking football but for a man, tis just kinda odd. Cos its so easy to like the game, you wonder why.

I will put this to the girls later and you can see what women think - lots on the girls havent seen this thread cos its mainly the male football bashers getting defensive

Your such a conformist cheesy.

Why is it odd. No way near 50% of UK men follow football. Just because you and your mates go to weatherspoons every night with your boys in their footy shirts.

on this subject - yes, my views are typically female.

Not according to the poll theyre not.

Or the women I know.

Do you ever get the impression that people just agree with you because they find you a little odd?

no they're not. you really are an extremely arrogant and wrongheaded individual.

are all the women claiming they don't care on that poll not 'typically female'? do you actually know what 'typical' means?

dappy cunt

No, they are shallow, conceited and uninformed.

Again, I like football, I used to be quite good at it, but that's completely irrelevant to almost all the women I know.

It is when you consider that that OP was made by someone who is very much into football but was a little pissed off because their team lost in a Mickey Mouse cup final the day before.

LOL!

all the little shits that come out of the woodwork and their feeble little blasts above

Trying desperately to drag this thread back in the direction it was intended to go in...

I've been to a few World Cups and European Championships and often seen cities entirely taken over on warm sunny days by armies of Dutch, Swedish, Croatian and Brasilian fans. But to see one swamped in blue and white quarters was astonishing.

The atmosphere inside the ground was brilliant as well. But the nature of the stadium (at least where I was sitting) meant that we couldn't have much banter with the Donny fans. We somehow seemed to be much vocal at, say, Derby earlier in the season. Mind you, we can never hear away fans at the Mem either.

Still, fantastic to hear nearly 40,000 singing Goodnight Irene...

You lot are weird.

You either like football or not. I don't choose my friends/partners according to their preference, though I may tailor my conversation accordingly.

In depth discussions about whether it's weird/childish to like a particular activity that isn't to your taste are just odd.

Up the Gas :)

I loves football me. Chops has signed til 2011. Crouch can't stop scoring. Totti is going to outshine Ronaldo tonight and Freddie Eastwood is Welsh.

It's all good :)
