Football Grounds

There's some long list here, they can't all have been visited following the same team.

The only away grounds I've ever been to are when Blues (Birmingham City) have been in town. I couldn't imagine going to a game if I didn't support either of teams playing. What's do you do when the team scores whose fans your sitting with, jump up and celebrate with them or stay seated and get the evil eye?

I just wonder how long would peoples list be, if they only counted the grounds visited with their own team?

Well yes, I cant think of any grounds i have been to when Cardiff City or Wales have not been playing, so my list be as follows

WEMBLEY (old watching Wales, new watching Cardiff)
MILLENNIUM STADIUM (Cardiff and Wales)

PREMIER LEAGUE (either in a cup game or when the team was in the lower divisions)

ARSENAL Old and new (cup games)
CHELSEA yes young uns, they used to be a second division side!

That’s just watching Cardiff…. Been to a few grounds on the continent watching Wales as well.

I suppose the list is so long cos we have been up and down the leagues a bit, so probably been to more grounds that your average premiership supporter.

It's not really that far, is it?

No, no place in scotland is "really that far", travelling by bus to these games gets you back late at night/morning. I liked my saturday nights too much in the city. Stuck on a football bus on a saturday night with men (plus occasional female) stinking of beer isnt my idea of fun.

Its been a good 5 years or so since i followed my team home and away. I now settle for occasional home games and the odd away fixture (which can be closer to my home), due to family commitments. I have no doubts i will make these grounds one day in the not so distant future, just to add them to my tally.

Ive done not bad so far, im in no rush to complete the rounds.

Well perry, you're putting me to shame anyway

Celtic Park
Ibrox
Hampden
Firhill
Rugby Park
Easter Road
Tynecastle
East End Park
Brockville

and I think that's it. Vowing to start going back to the games soon though, sadly gave up my ticket a few years ago when i was at uni as I was missing far too many matches through work.

In terms of current League teams, it's a measily five, in chronological order from the first visit;

Huish Park (Yeovil)
White Hart Lane (Tottenham)
Brittania Stadium (Stoke)
City Ground (Nottingham Forest)
St Mary's (Southampton).

I've been to the Nou Camp, but not to watch football, and I've seen baseball games at the Sky Dome (Toronto), the Olympic Stadium (Montreal) and Yankee Stadium (New York).

Adams Park (Wycombe)
Ashton Gate (Bristol City)
Brisbane Road (Leyton Orient)
Carrow Road (Norwich)
Craven Cottage (Fulham)
Huish Park (Yeovil)
Lodge Road (Yate Town)
Ninian park (Cardiff City)
Pride Park (Derby County)
Priestfield (Gillingham)
Sincil Bank (Lincoln)
The County Ground (Swindon)
The Hand Stadium (Clevedon Town)
The Kassam Stadium (Oxford Utd)
The Madejski Stadium (Reading)
The Memorial Ground (Bristol Rovers)
The New Den (Millwall)
The Walkers Stadium (Leicester)
Twerton Park (Bath, though went when Rovers played there)
Underhill (Barnet)
Vicarage Road (Watford)
Victoria Park (Hartlepool)

The Millenium Stadium (Wales)
Wembley (England, went to both old and new)

and I've seen baseball games at the Sky Dome (Toronto), the Olympic Stadium (Montreal) and Yankee Stadium (New York).

LA
San Francisco
Denver
Oakland - for a Friday night game in the most blue collar ground of all these. It was a riot, with a crowd straight outta work enjoying their beer. The most like a football atmosphere at baseball I've seen

easier in the English league to list the ones I haven't been to.

Hull, Darlington, Rotherham (new), Rochdale, Shrewsbury (new), Morecambe, Burnley, Bristol Rovers, Exeter, Accrington, Leicester 9new) MK Dons.

It helps if your team has played in every division and you also watch England.

I also have some mates who don't follow Swindon and I've occasionally tagged along with them, but I don't feel the need to celebrate or anything when watching a team I don't support.

Just over 150 in England and Wales. 10 in Scotland and just Ajax,Rayo Vallecano and Real Betis abroad.

You're supposed to list them! This is a mans' thread, revelling in borderline aspergers - so get to it!

Being a sad sad bloke i did for years. But it gets confusing do you count a club more than once if youve seen them at home at 3 different grounds etc...I cant be arsed doing the English ones! Take me to long to list them all. lots of grounds with Chelsea when i was younger.....Lost the habit of following Chelsea but still like Football been to loads of non league grounds more recently.

Grounds I’ve been to but not been allowed into

Grounds I’ve played at, but not watched at (gotta love typing that)
Chelsea
West Ham
Millwall

Primary School Tournament, aged 10 or 11

I'm a substitute, we're getting pumped 4-0, the gaffer says : Right Tommy, you go on up front. So my big moment has arrived. We get a corner, I'm at the back stick unmarked and it swirls through the air towards me. As it's coming, I think to myself: oh shit, I'm gonna have to head this. Luckily it dips at the last second, and although I think it was going in anyway, I stick a knee out for a last minute consolation goal.

I got told to go in goals for the next game, and when I refused, the coach said I wasn't getting on the team bus home if I didn't :D

And that is my story.

Anybody who is really interested in this issue should have a look at tony kempsters football webiste....It has a whole section devoted to what games people have seen...And people proudly mark off all kinds of grounds some of them literally thousands, cramming 3 or 4 into most weekends.
It puts the A into Anorak....I love it.

 I once went to two matches in the same day and to be honest I'd had enough of football by the end of the second match.... and I love football. 4 every weekend would kill it for me to be honest. Fair play to em though if that's what flicks their switch.

There's some facebook application where you can list them all on a map n shit, I have just over 100 on there. Includes non-league, grounds that don't exist any more and abroad.

Can't be arsed to list them all, it's dull

 I once went to two matches in the same day

I've done that more than once. One I remember was when the rugby union world cup final was on and some football games were rearranged so at not to clash: so I went to Oxford v Barnsley in the morning and Wycombe v Redbridge Forest (as they then were) in the evening. I'd have done three more than once if I'd been a car-owner: as it was the transport never quite worked out.

Of course that was when football was considerably cheaper than it is now.

Gosh.

Wembley, but only for a schoolboy international years and years ago
Milennium

Highbury
Craven Cottage (when Fulham were in the 4th Div)
Priestfield
Adams Park
Filbert Street
Loftus Road
County Ground (Swindon if there's more than one)
Fratton Park (years ago when they were prolly in the 3rd division)
T'Valley
Oakwell
Elm Park
Valley Parade
Portman Road <spit>
Kenilworth Road
Roots Hall
Blundell Park
Hillsborough
Carrow Road

SAS Arena, Herning - FC Midtjylland. Which is the nicest place I've watched games for years.

That's more than I thought it would be actually. Especially as I haven't been to an away game for 8 years or so.
