football clubs trying to fuck up world cup

I think it's a bag of shite that the clubs moan. It pisses me right off when managers moan that they will lose their African players for a month for the African nations cup. They knew the player played for an African nation when they signed them...hence the reason they could get a work permit. If they don't want to lose a player to the African nations, don't sign him! Similarly, Man Utd knew Rooney was an international when they signed him so they know there is a risk of him being injured whilst playing for England. Fergie has had his way with Giggs all these years pulling him out of friendly games and alot of qualifiers too. It seems Rooney will not be told what to do by Fergie as Giggs has been. Good on him I say. I'm glad someone is desperate to play for England so much. I have sympathy with United but at the end of the day it comes down to Rooney himself. He obviously feels he's right to play and if he's got the guts to stand up to Fergie that's good enough for me!

That’s spot on – it’s all about Ferguson not wanting United players to play international football - that’s why he’s making such a big fuss over Neville, Ferdinand and Foster, as well as Howard, Van Nistelrooy, Van der Saar, Saha, Ronaldo, Howard etc etc who are also involved in the World Cup. Oh, that’s right - he isn’t.

Obviously, it’s escaped your notice that the problem with Rooney is that HE’S SUSTAINED A SERIOUS INJURY. Ferguson is absolutely right - if there is even the slightest chance that Rooney’s recovery could be set back by playing again too early, he should not play.

Of course, Rooney can ignore the advice of one of the greatest and most experienced managers in the game, together with the medical advice from United’s doctors, and do what Sven - a man who leaves the job at the end of the tournament and who, in all probability, is treating the World Cup as a month-long job application – wants, but he would be stupid to do so.

Oh, and your point about Giggs is absolute shite. Due to Ferguson’s protection, Giggs, at the age of 33 and despite numerous injuries, is still world-class, and is United’s most decorated player - including eight league championship medals, four FA cup winners medals, a champions league winners medal etc etc. I’m sure he’s really unhappy with the way Ferguson has “managed” his career!!

Sending players such as Giggs half-way across the world, midweek, to play internationals, many of which are meaningless friendlies, when he has been prone to both niggling and more serious injuries is just plain stupid.

If I was going to moan about Ferguson re. anything, it would be more that he's trying to unsettle one of our players on the eve of the game (Carrick).

The cunt.

I'll tell you what I find fucking tedious - ABU twats who continually used terms like "manure", "fuckerson" etc as if they were the first person ever to use them. Listen mate, repeating OTHER PEOPLES over-used pathetic "jokes" isn't big nor clever. It's not as if they were funny the first time they were used. It just marks you out as a pillock.

Oh yes, let's all worship at the altar of Sir Alex, the man who can say or do no wrong.

Fuck off, you plank.

I think you'e missed my point completely. Perhaps it may help if you remove your red tinted spectacles.

Re. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, take what this man thinks with a pinch of salt, as he thinks that if a club has a good record in the European Cup in the past like his club, Bayern Munich, they should get automatic qualification every year. Does that mean Nottingham Forest, twice winners in the last 30 years (as many as Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and the Arse combined), get similar treatment?

this is ridiculous
i really hope england dont play wayne rooney in this world cup
everyone's view is that he's the wonderkid that HAS to play if england are to stand any chance of winning
he's quite simply not fit

im only a second year medical student
even I know how long fractures take to heal- svens physios are being dicks

in saipan, beckham had 2 weeks longer than rooney to recover from the same fracture
afterward even he admitted he was only at 80% fitness and probably shouldnt have played

rooney is clearly biased- he wants to play in the world cup as its the biggest game of his life!

but he could be doing serious damage to himself
im with alex ferguson on this one

england have to look objectively at rooney's well being
they can win the world cup without him

hmm :(

I think Frank Skinner put it best, he said that it looks like Rooney is gonna play and Man Utd are really pissed off - a double whammy of celebration!!

Some of the facts spouted on this forum blow my mind sometimes.

Well, when it comes to siding with the opinion of Ferguson or you, I know who's views I value the most. Why don't you stick to lamely repeating other people's tired old jokes - there's a good boy.

Anyway, before you spout any more ill-informed shite, do have a look at post 67.

I have, and it's a far more valuable contribution to this thread than anything you've said.

It's certainly correct, and the Beckham example illustrates it, that the physical healing of a fracture and a return to full match fitness are two different things. However, I'm sure that RF would confirm that no two fractures are the same and that different people heal at different rates.

Whether Rooney can make a useful contribution to this World Cup is certainly open to doubt. Similarly, no-one can be sure that he won't suffer a relapse. My objection is to ManUre's apparent attempted insistence that simply BECAUSE of those doubts, he shouldn't play. Balls to them say I, and says everyone who doesn't come from Stretford or Guildford.

true- also, unlike beckham
didnt rooney spend days in an oxygen tent to get it to heal even faster

still- like beckham, his desire to play in the world cup will overrule his objective opinion on whether he is actually fit for it

The point I was making was at managers in general. They want world class, international players in their team but once they have them signed up they are reluctant to release them for international duties. Ryan Giggs being a prime example but there are many more in many teams.
