Not if they are fucking injuredQUOTE]

you div. aylee (and me earlier) are not just talking WR, we are talking about this bullshit wherby Liverpool could end up suing the French FA over Cisse

read these three stories in todays guardian

http://football.guardian.co.uk/worldcup2006/story/0,,1793584,00.html

http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/worldcup06/2006/06/08/tug_of_love_over_rooney_betray.html

http://football.guardian.co.uk/worldcup2006/story/0,,1793571,00.html

The first article says: "Liverpool might have a case......." That is merely the supposition/opinion of the writer. At no point does it state that Liverpool intend, or are considering, suing the French FA over Cisse's injury.

I don't have very much sympathy for clubs in this type of club v country scenario. Releasing your top players for international duty is part and parcel of what the game is about, and always has been since the earliest days. Certainly, the clubs pay the wages, but they are in a business which has, as an inherent part of it, a requirement that players be permitted to play for their countries if they wish. I find the continual bleating of people like Fuckerson and Rummenigge to be rather tedious. I wouldn't expect Fuckerson, as a Scot, to be the slightest bit concerned in the interests of England but I would expect Rummenigge, a hero in his day for Germany, to be a bit more alive to the vital importance of international football for the game. So I say three cheers for Sven for not giving in to Fuckerson and three cheers for Rooney for overcoming what must, no doubt, have been considerable psychological pressure applied by the red-faced goon and his cronies not to risk a further injury in the World Cup.

I'll tell you what I find fucking tedious - ABU twats who continually used terms like "manure", "fuckerson" etc as if they were the first person ever to use them. Listen mate, repeating OTHER PEOPLES over-used pathetic "jokes" isn't big nor clever. It's not as if they were funny the first time they were used. It just marks you out as a pillock.

Well hell, why not just allow the clubs to stop any player going on the basis that they could sustain a career ending injury? Could happen and if it's that big an issue they'd keep any and all players back.

Should be left up to the player - surely at the end of the day workers have rights to say whether they can or can't go on a company day out?

Getting a bit tense, there, maxy-boy?

:D

Relax, have a beer, sit in the sun or something.

Will you be able to cope if England don't win it?

:D

People who use the word 'pillock' are a bit SUS too ;)

Perhaps so, but I'd already used "twat", and I don't like the "c" word. Feel free to substitute any other general term of abuse of your choosing though.

The one thing that United and the Football Association agree on is that Wallace, a professor of orthopaedic surgery at Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre, is one of the best in his business.Yet Eriksson has made it clear he regards the professor's advice as secondary to that of his fitness coach Ivan Carminati.

If i was a united fan i would be well fucked off.

United are no strangers to losing players in international duty with both steve coppell and neil webb retiring due to injuries sustained in international games. And the abuse given to beckham or neville when the fucking halfwits that are england-fans decided to turn against them. Never mind their percieved treatement at the hands of the same FA

Hear hear

Keep in mind that this is the World Cup we are talking about. The world's best footballers playing for the world's best teams, in the world's biggest tournament. Think of all the football played worldwide and consider that the World Cup is the pinnacle of the game.

Now Rooney is expected to play at this level. 6 weeks after breaking a bone in his foot???

I think if anything, Ferguson should be saying "For the sake of England, don't play Rooney, play someone else who is match fit."

Surely the clubs will benefit from the added value to their players after being seen to shine on an international stage. It shouldn't be seen as a lose lose situation for clubs. I am sure if Rooney does play well, his transfer value to united will rocket even higher.

Do they (the clubs) insure their professionals against long-term injury? I have to imagine they must...

To be fair, we got over the latter fairly quickly.

Love the way [some] u75 members are supporting major corporates in 'defending their asset values'. :D
But then I suppose Man U and Liverpool are far trendier than Shell or McDonalds.
Like Bristly Pioneer says, you won't see those clubs whose asset values increase whinging about it too much.

You mean the FA and team England are not corperatations and brands? Just checking.......

I think it's a bag of shite that the clubs moan. It pisses me right off when managers moan that they will lose their African players for a month for the African nations cup. They knew the player played for an African nation when they signed them...hence the reason they could get a work permit. If they don't want to lose a player to the African nations, don't sign him! Similarly, Man Utd knew Rooney was an international when they signed him so they know there is a risk of him being injured whilst playing for England. Fergie has had his way with Giggs all these years pulling him out of friendly games and alot of qualifiers too. It seems Rooney will not be told what to do by Fergie as Giggs has been. Good on him I say. I'm glad someone is desperate to play for England so much. I have sympathy with United but at the end of the day it comes down to Rooney himself. He obviously feels he's right to play and if he's got the guts to stand up to Fergie that's good enough for me!

talk about stating the bleeding obvious. The point isnt that he doesnt want hin played. The point is that hes still possibly injured.

All you cunts are missing the fucking point. But dont let your lack of understanding about the modern day game get in your way.

I'm not a Man U FAn, by some considerable stretch of the imagination. However, they are within their rights to be concerned. What's the good of rushing Rooney back? from an England POV it will be no good either if we fuck his foot up completely and after this he never quite reattains his form. he'll get plenty of chances in future tournaments. Also if Owen and Crouch are in good form, why change that after to incorporate a semifit player?
