Bread torn into chunks in a bowl with hot milk and sugar.
Sounds horrible ,but me Mum allways gave that to me after I had teeth out as a kid , I seem to remember it was quiet comforting.
 
They've done mash... Although if they've just done standard tattie might I be so bold as to suggest sweet potato or butternut squash?

Also butternut squash roasted with herbs (garlic, rosemary, thyme etc, or paprika, cumin, cardamom etc. Any combination really.) is very soft.
 
My point is that it's a good way of getting almost any soft veg down you when you're feeling off colour - broccoli, peas, spinach, cauliflower, almost anything can be added to veggie mash and will go down easily.
 
Ah, I see; so getting the ol' greens and stuff in their too... That's not a bad idea since that kind of veg is generally awful when soft.
