what can i do (i have already put all my grains in closed containers) my flatmates haven't though... but the moths don't seem to be breeding/eating anywhere obvious. also they even manage to get to my rice etc through my glass containers anyway

i hoover them away most of the time but they are still in the majority... i despair, please help?

Surprised they can get up that high actually.. I thought they preferred the ground floor.

I have some mouse traps at my flat. I think they will be coming with me when I move house - the council charge a fortune for such a service. These ones actually work too.. and last for years.

I have to disagree with 'cute'. Oh and there is NEVER only one. ;)

I'm yet to live at a place that hasn't had mice though, TBH.

Unlike the incessant streams of the pointless moth that are bothering me, I don't really want to kill the mouse. I don't particularly want to drive it out if it isn't causing any forseeable problems. If anyone can highlight what else may be in store then my opinion may change accordingly.

As for blocking up holes, I think it would be pretty futile. I'm on the ground floor of a victorian house converted into two flats. That means there's probably a quadrillion of access points under the finely varnished floorboards. You can't use expanding foam on any visible surfaces that are finished, for obvious asthetic reasons.

Possible problems with mice;

- As others have said, that one mouse won't be alone for long.

- mice make one hell of a noise all through the night - gnawing things, squeaking and, as far as I can tell, playing football with rocks.

- mice will chew up your electrics causing expensive and possibly dangerous damage

- mice will chew through hoses on washing-machines and dishwashers causing floods

- mice shit in your porage

- mice dribble urine everywhere they go

Possible problems connected with mice in combination with cats;

- disembowelled rodents littering your living quarters

- live rodents brought in for disembowelling then released in a vague moment scampering about all night looking for wires and valuable books to destroy closely and noisily pursued by embarassed feline

Problems connected with poison in conjunction with mice;

- poison, which is brightly coloured and easily visible, is trailed over all your cutlery and crockery.

The joys of country living, eh?
