The Colour and The Shape is a good album IMO but the rest is middle of the road. Their recent stuff is very dad rock, its like they're the new Status Quo.

Just listened to a promo copy of the new single ('The Pretender') ... best thing they've done since 'all my life' imo! Gil Norton is clearly a good influence on the band

Biffy have done it better and they're not even American (it's a tradition in Scotland to out Yank the Yanks).

Some very good songs that I love alongside some shite; good singles band,pseudo-Supergrass. Grohl was a brilliant drummer for QotSA, and some other half-decent band apparently.

Sebadoh is the kiddie.

It's weird. I used to hate that kind of music, but when I saw them on telly recently I thought they were amazing! I was pissed, though....:D

I like them a lot, but I haven't got any of their albums since There's Nothing Left to Loose. Catchy tunes, they're great live and Grohl is great.

It's a shame we have to die my dear, but no one makes it out of here aliiiiiive

class. Better than Nirvana fo' sure

They are great live though - carried along by Taylors drumming and Davey's infectious silly grin - and everyone jumping around like idiots :D  (plus everlong which is a real killer live - I almost cried in public)

The tickets go on sale for Newcastle at 9 am tomorrow and my wife says if I don't get her one then theres no sex until hell freezes over :(

definately not crap. a few great songs and a lot of middling ones. they are pretty boring but dave knows how to write a pop song and ill always go back to them every now and then

I likes em. Not my favorite band ever but definately in my top 50.

Their vids are usually pretty cool too.

oh yes. The video for 'This is a Call' is comdy genius

Dave grohl isnt in me first and the gimmie gimmies. The guitarist chris shiflet is in them and has been for years and years and years as he used to play in the fat wreck band no use for a name. All the gimmie gimmies are from fat wreck bands(or roadie for fat wreck bands). Silly nosos you should know this!

Right foo fighters. I fucking love em. First album was probabley about the worst and i still love a lot of tracks on that but i have absolutly loved everything else they have put out although the double cd they put out hyad its moments of shiteness. I personally reckon the best album was one by one which i think i loved every song off of.

Favorite sng is probabley february stars i really feel that one for some reason and im not quote sure why. stacked actors and disenchated lulluby are the other contenders.

dave

was a produced a bit to lo-fi(kinda fuzzy) for my liking and dont like floaty, weanie beanie , x-tatic, exhausted is toss.

A decent album but not one i love.

dave

Can't stand them live anymore.

Take a good song (Everlong , Monkeywrench) ,slow it down to a snails pace ,shout whoaaaaa and yeahhhhh every other breath and you've managed to mangle a perfectly decent song.

First two albums are good though.

I don't like Grohl but he laid some killer beats when he was a drummer.

he's just too fucking ubiquitous, always throwing out a cheesy grin or a devil sign or anthing else that the photographer wants. pop rock whore.

*glares at twisted* :p

Am hoping to go see them in Nov.in Cardiff!! I don't think I will come down for a year after the gig.

Sorry but these days I've mixed feelings about DG. I'll try to explain my sentiments.
Of course there were the Nirvana years and the early years of Foo Fighters (I was so excited about seeing their first ever gig at Brixton Academy especially as he had invited Built To Spill over as special guests which won him ten thousand cred points in my book). And there have been other good moments such as what the above poster points out about his incredible drumming on an otherwise shite QOTSA album...BUT these days the Foos just seem to pump out bland semi-stafium rock that's indistinguishable from the last one and he does gurn a lot for the media.
I didn't vote cos they're obviously not crap but just a tad annoying these days: the acreage of press just doesn't live up to the music these days.

I like 'em. As Dub says, there's a lot worse out there.

They've got some very good tunes & they can be a great & fun live act who actually seem to give a shit about putting on a good show for your hard earned cash.
Fair play.
