siarc, what you on about?

do you only have a small flag? :(

idaho, we dont usually bother putting flags up either, though i think we might have had one in the back shelf of relahni's old car during one of the euro comps...but my mum gave us a massive flag she got free at bingo (the mind boggles!) so we thought "why not!", the littl'un will love it if nothing else! :)

Donna - do you decry Chinese people waving their flags? How about Brazillians?
It strikes me as a bad thing on the whole. It doesn't strike me as a problem that can be addressed by saying "you first" though.

I will not be with it, but our flags going to Germany.
Here it is in Slovakia..

how gauche is that
you might as well write 'child rapist' on your forehead for all the good it will do for perceptions of your intelligence and wholesomeness

Is that you think when you see them?

and you too? i thought you were implying a causal link between genital size and flag preference and i would have to tell you how big my clitoris was or something.

my interest in flag size is not freudian, i was thinking of a ruskinesque disquisition upon the comparative aesthetic loathesomeness of the lower middle class little-flags-on-desks as against full size flags with flagpoles and everything, king george and olde england forever etc.

it looks like you've decided to wade in with some inflammatory words of bile: "child rapist" for fuck sake??

sorry!! although you'll notice i didn't say flag carriers were child rapists. or racists. the english flag looks shit though, aesthetically and ideologically. some cool flags you could try instead this summer ~

japan
togo (nasty clashing colours, a good 'ironic' flag for 'ironic' cunts)
cote d'voire (thieved from eire, the cheating shits, see also e eboue, d drogba)
spain
saudi arabia
ghana is very cool

Mani - like a hell of a lot of mancs would support republic of ireland over england were it to come down to it.

Mani has an Irish father. Most people, regardless of where they are born will support the team there father is from (if they're any good that is).

And the K Stand was full of Mancunians when I watched England there. Ditto the Kop at Anfield, another city where there is supposedly little England support. The Globe and Mabels pub in London was always full of them for games at Wembley.

Interesting you say the English flag looks shit when that and the Union Flag have become quite iconic symbols in some fashion circles - probably only behind the Us and The Soviet Union.

And what exactly is so amazing about the Japanese flag in contrast to the English one? What is it about a red sun compared to a red cross that makes one 'shit' and one 'cool'?

Aesthetically I rather like the English flag - much better than the British one. As a football fan I like bold colours and simple designs.

Design wise, UK, the Basque and Greece probably have the most interesting cross flags I think. The others are a bit too dull.

blimey, there was me just asking if people were gonna put a flag up for their national foobtall team during the world cup....

I have decided to fly the Jolly Roger :D

Anyhow you only allow human teams.......

You can stuff your "World" Cup......

You know how people here can get. There will always be a few non international supporting England or English flag haters that somehow feel compelled to involve themselves in every thread on the issue....time and time again.

Wouldn't wave one myself as im not English but can't see what the big horror is that english people wave an England flag during the world cup.

I would definately contest that - i would imagine that while most people coud spot a butchers apron they would struggle with an english flag... due to the tendenciy of english emmigrant to fly the union flag rather than their own i would suggest that even the welsh and scottish flags are more iconic outside of the green and pleasant land

and the sawstika... surely one of the most iconic - hugely popular with some fashions as are the others there - and utterly despised by others.... doesn't mean they are shit or otherwise, but you have to understand both the hatred and the blind love that comes with the flag fascism that seems to grip people

fly yer flag - its yer right

i'll sit here and conclude that you are a bad weapon with possible self-worth issues.

everyones happy

I'm not actually flying one.

Though what to make of someone who keeps rabbiting they're not into international football yet will still show up in international threads.

i'm all about this years world cup - i have my teams as usual: Germany, Argentina and this years special guest appearance from USA, i think you have even had a little 'LOL' at my belief that they will perform better than englandshire and the boys...

I won't be actually flying one from my balcony. Our estate already has MORE than its fair share :p ... plus I expect a noticeable minority of other flags to appear soon, as last time.

But I have no problem with others flying the flag as the World Cup approaches.

We never get this with the Ryder Cup. :(

Flying your flag is fine, flying the English flag is fine too, it enhances the whole experience and everyone should fly them during it the World Cup if they're from England and all the other countries' inhabitants involved should too, it's the fucking World Cup and there are class players all over but some of the power has shifted.

England has a good squad, and I have a lot of time for some of their players...Lampard, Joe/Ashley Cole, Gerrard, Rio Ferdinand, Rooney and Terry.

I am certainly looking forward to it.

They may get to the last 16 but then they'll probably face Brazil.

I remember someone last year (1927) saying USA would piss all over England in the Chicago friendly. Then Englands third choice went out and beat USAs first choice :D .

And going by the Germany game last month, they don't look much better a year later.
