YELLOW ALLAMANDA
This is a very common plant in Malaysia. An introduced sprawling shrub from Brazil with glossy green leaves. The attractive flowers are large and yellow and flowering is all the year round. The plant is easily propagated from stem cuttings.

and just for a bit of fun for you all, see if you can identify the bits on the table. I'm off for a pint

Yes, they're Kaffir Limes

In fact, I think I still have one in my suitcase. Must take it out before it rots

No photos of birdies to test my identifying skills against, MtM?

er, sorry purves, only really saw Mynah birds in Langkawi and some others that wouldn't stay still enough for me to take their photos!

Actually, we went to Jurong Bird Park in Singapore and besides lots of parrots/parakeets/lorikeets, I still didn't manage to get many pictures, but there is a lovely coloured one that you can identify for me.

I'll dig it out in a few minutes

Sorry, just realised I haven't put my Singapore pictures on to Photobucket yet.

Have this instead

Yeah ok!Jolly nice muscovy or barbary ducks with their variety of plumage depending on their breeding heritage.

I love the way asian farmers make the most of their farms with ducks in the paddy, pigs and chickens scratting about for scraps :)

on the left looks like ornamental chillies (capsicum); on the right looks like an impatiens of some sort

You are quite correct

These hot plants have fruit that change colours as they mature. The colours range from the common green to red, to exotic colours like red to white, yellow to orange, and orange to purple to black - to name a few. The plants have been named according to the occasions/holidays the colours are associated with - no prizes for guessing which is the "NuMex Christmas" and which the "NuMex Valentine's Day".

As for edibility, the fruit is said to be relatively spicy although it lacks flavour. It can be grown indoors or outdoors - the only conditions they require are abundant sunlight and some humidity.
