Florence & the Machine - You've got the Love

You are all clearly wrong, the best cover of this is the (which gets bonus kudos for mashing the Prodigy's Your Love into it).

with respect, that isn't 'the original' - in fact it's about the third 'remix' (the one that got into the charts IIRC) of the original john truelove rip off of THIS:

(statton acapella over the top of jamie principle instrumental by frankie knuckles, actually this isn't the true 'original' either but it's as close as i can find on youtube)

track of GLORY!

NB: that Florence song is just ROTTEN. I hate her guts.

Thanks for posting that...brings me to 80s clubtimes.

Anyway, about time some indie fuckers covered Rhythm Is a Dancer...I really want to hear some whiney (and obviously autotuned) English indie dweeb deliver the line "as serious as cancer" and pmsl.

You only had to ask

*actually, it's just a sort of semi-acoustic cover with some strings plonked on it and what sounds like Enrique Iglesias wailing over the top, and nowhere does it contain the infamous rapping. It's still funny though.

I'm not sure whether to say thank you or fuck off;)

Better than the XX remix all the same.

So what other classic R&B/hiphop/club anthems can the talentless indie morass turn their hands to next?

shrieking shouty harriden.. dire..... plus those c*nts Whiley and Cotton, and inevitably the NME wax lyrical about them - which assures their permanent c*ntdom

I like the Flo version and the original.

I'm more open to covers than most though. Some people really can't handle more than one version of a song ever. Mores the pity for them. Evolving songs to modern arrangements keeps great songs alive for future generations.

I jdo wish people would write more original material too though.

p.s. She's got great pins.
p.p.s. She overdoes showing them off at gigs though the vain wench.

I really don't like this - if you're going to do a cover at least try to make it a wee bit different from the original - in a good way ideally. It sounds like a weak copy by a kareoke singer.

Another thing I heard recently that was simply not worth the radiowaves it was transmitted on was Katherine 'Sony Tits' Jenkins cover of Sarah McClachlan's Angel. Dire, absolutely dire. I believe she's also covered something by Bob Marley (was it No Woman No Cry:confused:?) which should be *ahem*interesting..................

god, this bag-o-shite cover is all over everywhere, what an awful awful version of such a lovely song...

Yeah, this. She can dick off. I love that song, how dare she

I think it's spectacularly arrogant to cover such a loved song and not even bother to make it any different. Like she's going to better it. Fuck off.

probably to make up for having a face like a brighton beach donkey in a 'see you jimmy' wig

just heard this. it's hideous. people need to wash their ears out. why do a cover of a tune people love to sing along to and dance on tables to and make it less danceable with shit beats and hideous strident vocal signings that seems to be increasingly mistaken for singing ability. why are there so many female pop artists singing in this unappealing and repellent manner, as if they've been taking lessons from eddie vedder. that's not good singing!

Anyone got a Frankie Knuckles version they could ahem email me?

All I have is The Source version.

Much appreciated and much needed for Monday night party.
